I am 30 years old and have a skin condition that western medicine calls Lichen planus. This started about a year and a half ago when a lot of things changed in my life: I took birth control pills (yeast infections started), took a wave of antibiotics, and I increased my tofu intake because I stopped eating meat. Along with the "lichen" I also get hives and yeast infections - I visited a homeopathic guy that was recommended by a friend and this guy told me to stay away from soy, chocolate, whey, dairy (I have been lactose intolerant since 17 after a bad diet), and tomatoes. I tried that and it did make me feel alot better, as far as the energy levels. He also prescribed me probiotics and enzymes and he also said I had "leaky gut". Soon after I visited him I broke out in hives and got a yeast infection (usually happened before my cycle) so then I tried acupuncture. I recently went to an acupuncturist (has been doing this for > 20 years)that said that the LP was associated with the health of my lungs - not any sort of allergy -I am therefore going to get my lungs checked out. He helped me with a hives attack and a yeast infection and night sweats that i was having - they went away but my sking sitll itches a little bit - the acupuncturist also said that I had taken alot of artificial hormones and he told me to stay away from spicy food and meats. I visited this guy 10 times but the lP is still there - By the way i have the LP on the posterior side of my knee and lower side of my thigh, it actually started on the bak of my thigh and it has moved to the right on my thig and up my thigh. Does not itch alot, but a little. The hives I get them on my pelvic area, i used to get them around my breasts (in the summer) and heat and sweat make it worse. ANother thing - I grind my teeth at night -any siggestions on that? I was told parasites were the cause I am now looking for the next route, I really believe in TCM and acupuncture but I founf you guys on the internet just now and wanted to see if you had any suggestions. thanks so much. Hi andrea
Sorry to hear about your lichen . A question for you - why did you give up on the Homeopathy? Sometimes it causes an aggravation or a return of symptoms so it may have been a good sign! Did you discuss your reaction to the remedies with the homeopath? |

Lichen Planus: The cause of LP is not known. While there are many theories to explain LP, most dermatologists believe it can be classified as an autoimmune disease. There are cases of lichen planus-type rashes which occur as allergic reactions to medications for high blood pressure, heart disease, and arthritis. Identifying and stopping the drug helps clear up the condition within a few weeks. Some people with LP can also have hepatitis C. As per Allopathy there is no known cure for LP but treatment is often effective in relieving itching and in improving the appearance of the rash until it goes away. Since every case of LP is different, no one treatment is perfect. Many cases of LP go away within two years. As it heals, LP often leaves a dark brown discoloration on the skin. Like the bumps themselves, these stains may eventually fade with time without treatment. About one out of five people will have a second attack of LP. Andrea, Homoeopathy treats the patient, that means taking all the symptoms an experienced Homoepath selects a remedy to cure the patient.Thats why for one disease homoeopathic remedy difffers from one person to other. So its better to consult a good Homoeoapth nearby who can take your case and monitor the progress regularly for better . You should avoid Spicy foods, citrus juices, tomato products, caffienated drinks like coffee and cola, and crispy foods like toast and corn chips which aggravates LP . Hope to hear You are cured.

well it was not on homeopathy but it was the way the doc "diagnosed" me - like he did not give me a reason why I was the way i was - it was pretty much try this and see - additionally he had never treated anyone with LP. So the next week i stopped eating all the things he told me to eat i got hives and a yeast infection and I could not take the hives any more - they didn't go away by themselves and I was tired of taking grapefruit juice and other stuff. So that week i went to my Qi Gong class and talked to my teacher who recommended this accupuncturist , so i figured I would try one thing at a time...I am still open to trying something else either homeopathy or acupuncture or both..but I want to find someone that really knows - i was actually considering this guy at www.lichenplanus.com that claims to cure this, but again I am just hesitant to trying just anything.
But i never got a chance to discuss these things with the homeopathic doc. Another thing is that a friend of mine has been going to him with the same allergy for 14 years...I ask why hasn't he helped him cure his allergy? - I believe everything has a cure... |

I am staying away from all the foods you pointed out. I guess I am going to have to cut OJ now... I gotta say this is pretty hard since I love food so much... |

hi all -
i had a question - i am now getting treated by Dr. Shah as well as acupuncture for the LP. One thing that i had read before is that when you start to take the homeopathic medicine your sysmptoms usually show up.why is that? I know this treatment is slow to take effect, but i have seen some LP flare ups in the last month. thank you! Andrea |

There will be initial worsening or aggravation in many cases especially fast reacting cases like of eczema etc. This aggravation is due to the similiarity of the disease condition and similer disease condition caused by medication. This is only a temperory phenomena. But in case of long lasting cases like LP ,usually no such aggravation seen and it will need prolonged treatment also.
regds,
