The reason why I asked about the Graphites was because what you experienced in August/ September may have been a proving symptom from this remedy if it was the first time it had gone like that. Did you take the Graphites just before this came up?

If I remember rightly I was on Rhus Toxicodenos 6LM at the time when I started getting bad - before the acupuncture. Things just kept getting worse so I was told to take Pulsatila 4LM due to a lack of change and the symptoms, especially the loss of liquid from the face and neck, I moved on to Graphites 2LM and felt very slightly better so went up to 4LM and the improvement continued, however after 6 weeks of being house-ridden I succumbed to pressure from family and doctors and stopped the treatment.

Sorry, I'm running out of time - more Monday. Thanks.

Hi Rick: Sorry yesterday was bank holiday in Spain - lucky for some eh?
Well, the burning started after I was first treated with homeopathy with the following remedies (3 years ago):

POLERANINA REPETABS, NATRUM SULFURICUM 15CH, ARSENICUM ALBUM 15CH, BELLEDONA 9CH, GRAPHITES 9CH, LUESINUM 30CH.

As far as I remember I started off with the first 3 - taking the granules under my tongue twice daily for each remedy. Then, according to my explainations of the symptoms she added the other three.

Before starting this treatment my symptoms were very dry and tight skin resulting in being very uncomfortable. A general layer all over, more concentrated inside elbow and knee, eyelids and above lip, upperside of fingers just above nail and also on back of hands.

After starting the above treatment my symptoms changed drastically in a couple of days. I looked like I had been burnt by the sun, my skin was very weepy all over, and the itch was uncontrolable.

I stuck it out for 6 "long" weeks when my Mum flew over and rushed me into hospital - treatment was cortisone then as an out patient cyclosporin.

When bad the sypmtoms continued to be red and flaky (not weepy) And every so often it would come on with a very hot and red face, but it is not always.

Since May this year I have been going to an Institute of Alternative Medicine here in Madrid. I explained my past experience with homeopathy in detail. I'm afraid I didn't write the order down and I can only remember the last three in order so here's the list. I took it diluted in mineral water (15 granules in 500ml) morning and night - only one remedy at a time until it took effect or not revision after two/three weeks, (unless drastic change when I telephoned) and they changed me accordingly, I took the CH doses until the apis 30 gave me a strong reaction, from then on I was on LM apart from the CALCAREA:

NATRUM MURIATICUM 200CH
STAPHYSAGRA 200CH
APIC MELLIFICA 9CH
APIS 30CH (GAVE ME A STRONG REACTION)
ARSENICUM ALBUM 2LM
CALCAREA CARBONICA 200CH (ONCE - REPEATED AFTER TWO WEEKS AGAIN)
SULPHUR 2LM
PULSATILA 4LM
RHUS TOXICODENOR 6LM
GRAPHITES 2LM/4LM

In addition to this I was told to take Manganese solution to deal with mental hyperactivity as I was having problems disconnecting to sleep. I was also taking ultra livor and infloran to detoxify my digestive system.

More on profile next time.

This is not homeopathy, its quackery, and its dangerous. To counteract supression, and medical disease, use one dose only of china 200, and wait a month, then we shall reatke your case totally from the bottom, and pick one remedy that will help out this.

Hi! As you have guessed by now your first lot of treatment was a mess and I have to say this is what gives homeopathy a bad name!! I believe it is quite common in France and Germany to give a combination of remedies!!

Are you still on the Graphites LM4??

No I stopped the graphites when I started the course of cortisone as my Homeopath informed me that this cancels out homeopath.

Unfortunately my first experience apart from making my skin worse and has meant that since then I have almost constantly been on some kind of pills whereas before this was not the case. Due to this bad experience and the fact that I got in such a state in August/Sept this year, the little faith my "Spanish Family" had in homeopathy has evaporated making things complicated.

GM: I'm not sure what you mean by "counteract suppression and medical disease".
Also is it worth me taking China 200 while still on cortisone (the aim is to be off it completely by 15th Nov) ?
Should I keep off dairy produce ?

its to counteract the damages from that senseless use of homeopatic remedies!
It has to be done, or you risk worse things that you already have experienced.
Cortisone, dont interfear with china, so use it.

Hi GM, I know you are going to shout at me and tell me that you are not my teacher but I really would appreciate knowing when to use Sulphur to antidote remedies and when China. Antodoting remedies is something I have never been taught and do not know where to find out about it. Thanks.

I've ordered China 200 and will keep you posted after taking the dose and in the month that follows. (I'm assuming one dose is 5 granules disolved under the tongue ?)

Well, here goes my full details (rather long I fear):

English nationality, moved to Spain 5 years ago, Marketing Assistant, 5'8'', big build - 70ish kg, 27 years old,

Vision: good

Moles: many on face: 5 on left cheek forming an L shape (one big one), big one on forehead, big one on left hand side of nose near to left eye, have grown since I started taking cyclosporin. Normal spread on body.

Freckles: On nose and cheeks in summer - small quantity

Nails: Due to my condition my nails have many ridges, usually quite strong but since starting cortisone they have become more brittle. I occasionally get white spots but none present currently.

Weather: In general I have noticed that I tend to be worse in winter and at night. Although sweat increase itchiness.

Fears: making mistakes (something instilled in me by my father) and making demands on a professional front,

Sleep: I donít usually remember dreams, but when I do I only tend to dream of a mixture of the things that have happened during the day.
My sleep is very light, I need to sleep many hours (approx. 10 - which is only possible at weekends). I go through periods when during weekdays I find it harder to fall asleep as my mind works overtime. If my skin is bad I itch a lot at night.

I tend to go through phases; usually my sleep is connected to my condition. Sometimes I wake up many times, usually turning things over in my mind - nothing I would consider important, silly things I have to do the next day etc.
I like sleeping flat on my front, in the foetal position or slightly to one side.
Currently I am sleeping well.

Favourite colour: none in particular, I like strong colours rather than pale.

Food: Good appetite - need to eat regularly. Not hungry first thing in the morning - it takes me an hour or so. Tend to feel very hungry at lunchtime and less in the evening but the cortisone increases the appetite so currently I tend to feel anxious to eat in the evening. I love fruit and a wide range of vegetables and crave for creamy cheesy foods or sweet things mainly floury pastry things, biscuits etc.

I Like almost everything except anchovies, strong cheeses and I prefer other things to meat

I was diagnosed to be allergic to artificial colouring as a teenager.

Feel better: with lots of sleep.

Worse: apart from tiredness, I have not been able to pin point reasons to why all of a sudden it starts getting worse - it must be very subconscious.

Canít think of anything that a doctor would laugh at.

I do not like standing still, I prefer either sitting or moving.
I hate getting up early but if left to my own devices would get up very late, so even on a weekend I tend to set the alarm, late but I set it all the same.

Kind of person: When I am not suffering from my illness I am a happy and optimistic person. I hate to waste my time so I'm constantly busy. I think I'm an open person and easy to talk to. I tend to worry too much about other people's problems (people I care about) Other relevant adjectives: Stable moods, sensitive, a bit of a control freak, outgoing but sometimes shy at first, level headed, stubborn as a mule, tend to know what I want. I hate making and admitting to having made mistakes. I enjoy both other people's company and my own.

History:

Childhood problems: my family is very complicated. Both parents have been married before. My Father first had a daughter then a son. In the meantime my Mother had a son with her first husband. Then my Mother and Father met at work and had an affair. My Mother became pregnant with me. She stopped the relationship with my Father without mentioning her pregnancy and tried to make her marriage work. A rather emotional pregnancy as she was in love with my Father. During this time my Father had another son with his first wife. When I was around a year old, she contacted him again and they ended up separating from their respective partners and moving in together with my Mothers first child. When my other brothers were about 3 they also came to live with us. Then, when they were about 12 years old they chose to go back and live with their Mum again. For about 10 years we didnít see each other much. Now, we have a fairly good relationship. The eldest by 6 years is my sister who left home as fast as she could when she was 17.

Throughout our childhood my Father was very strict, ridiculously so, including physical. I think it was a control thing, all opinions were suppressed etc. It was a terrifying experience for all of my brothers and I. My relationship with my mother ďbeganĒ when my Father left home when I was 18 and now is very good. My current relationship with my Father is ok but contact is not very regular. I think I have come to terms with all aspects and I donít feel any resent or hatred towards him. I have come to accept he is the way he is.

Illness: I always managed to get all my brotherís illnesses but 10 times worse, colds, etc. And I was very sick with measles.

Accidents: I had a motorbike crash last year resulting in an operation on my ring finger knucklebone. I have two horizontal metal bars, which served to direct the bone when mending

Vaccinations: tuberculosis, rubella, and tetanus.

Symptoms: old/new

The Evolution of my illness has been as follows: It is apparent from as far as I can remember. Use of topical creams only until 23 when I took the first course of cortisone pills. When I was 10 years old I suffered an allergic reaction to a purple coloured bubble gum, I was in hospital for 1 week. From about 14/15 years old (coinciding with my Father starting to live away during the week for job purposes Ņ?) During my college and university years it hardly bothered me (I was living away from home and my Father Ņ?) it almost disappeared until the age of 22/23 (coinciding with me coming to live in Spain Ņ?why I donít know why Ņ?).
Basically it has always manifests itself as very dry, flaky and extremely itchy. Throughout my life it has always been present on the inside of elbows and knees and the worst areas have changed from the feet, under eyes, eyelids, top of lip, to the palm side of hands (starting at 18yrs old coinciding with me starting to wear a gold ring?), to back side of hands (both especially on fingers including existence of deep cuts) scalp in the form of scabs and now the worst place is my face. Since my first bout of homeopathy my symptoms have changed, my face gets as red as a tomato. Sometimes it's red because it's scorching hot, and others because the skin is damaged following a serious scratching session. Sometimes my eyes get very swollen. The symptoms change from bout to bout it can start itching like hell, or my faces all of a sudden gets very hot and burns up, then gets very dry and irritated (uncomfortable), as it gets better it all flakes off. I could easily lose two to three layers of skin in a day, especially on my face. During both bad bouts whilst on homeopathy my skin became very weepy (never before witnessed). The first time I became dehydrated as a result - just lightly scratching any part of my body would soak my clothes. This last time (August/September 2000) it was only my face, neck, and to a lesser extent on my hands. The liquid is sticky, leaves yellow stains and also smells peculiar, apart from driving me crazy and stopping me from sleeping.
Currently I am not witnessing any of the above symptoms (apart from mild itching on my scalp, hands, wrists, vagina and anus) as I am on cortisone. The skin is much better although it has not yet recovered completely; I have some scars still from scabs I made from scratching.

Other complaints: The balls of my feet hurt when I walk a lot in shoes - especially with a heel. My feet feel better in the morning but start hurting again the more I walk.
I also sometimes suffer from aching shoulders, especially the right hand side (I'm left handed if that has anything to do with it)

Family illnesses: Mother suffered from pleurisy approx. 20 yrs ago and temporary paralysis on one side of her face. Grandmother suffered from thrombosis and currently suffers from osteoporosis, Grandfather died of lung cancer (heavy smoker), Father recently suffered from a heart attack although he has almost fully recovered, he also has hayfever.

Let me know if anything is not clear. Thanks !
