My son has aa irritation behind his left knee. It started with what I think is mallescum contagiosum(SP?) (I think it is this because when my now 20 yr old son was 5 or 6 he had a condition diagnosed as this and it looks very much the same.) The smooth bumps that he had for several months are going away. In their place is thick, rough skin that is very irritated and itchy. My son is a very healthy child with few illnesses in his history.
I am new to this board and not sure how much detail is wanted. I'll leave it at this and hope for soem insights. I am glad to provide more info if needed. We have been using homeopathics for some years now, with great success. i am glad I found this resource.

No, there is no discharge. The skin is rough and dry. I have been experimenting with tea tree oil and tonight the roughness and redness seems to have lessened.

Red, round, rough, coinshaped, behind knees, itchy, and in that age, points to sulphur (vaxinedamage) and the follower, calcarea carb.
Graph is merely a safe shot, when having little info, but when having this info, check calc carb, check mentals, graph is slow in all, memory like a sift, etc.
Also could graph, who is a deep-acting, strong remedie, if not fitting, cause serious problems if used over x12, would not advice it over that, and i do not like to use a supressive, or symptome treatment, as that can cause serious problems, by changing a mild condition into something, FAR MORE DANGEROUS.

I need some help to understand your responses.
First, the condition is not really getting better. My son has had the bumps for quite a long time. The transformation from bumps to rough itchy skin has been taking place over 2 months. The tea tree oil salve seems to lessen the redness but it returns when the salve is gone. Repeated treatments of salve do not seem to do any more than give temporary relief.
Do you suggest that I take into consideration my son's mental state? I have used some homeopathics, but I have not ever gone very far in studying the process of choosing a remedy. Would a "slow" mental state further indicate graph? Slow does not describe my son. He is active in both body and mind.
What other info can I provide that could help with a confident remady choice?

Stop tea tree oil, its supressing, and can complicate matters seriously.

Skylar is a 6 yr 4 mth old boy. His disease history includes a few ear infections in his first year, treated with fer phos, an infection in his penis at 3 yrs, treated with antobiotics, an undiagnosed fever at 4 yrs, given 1 or 2 doses of antibiotic but discontinued when it caused him to throw up. At about 1 yr we gave him mimulus, a flower remedy, for fear and anxiety. This helped him considerably. Otherwise he has had some colds, etc. He has had no vaccinations and has no allergies. He does show signs of being somewhat lactose intolerant. He enjoys yogurt and cheese but milk can cause him feel discomfort. He has rice or soy milk in his morning cereal. He like sweets and would eat processed foods if we allowed. He does not care for meats, though he would eat processed meats such as lunch meats or hot dogs if allowed.
He is small for his age. he weighs 40 lbs. and is 441/2 inches tall. He has few freckles across his nose, is pale, and has some moles over his body. He has no spots on his nails and they are healthy.
"Progress for his age" I am unsure what you want here. He is intelligent, inquisitive, and active. He is homeschooled and is busy in projects with me, his pop, or on his own. He is, and has always been, physically able. He climbs trees, kicks a soccer ball with skill, hits with a bat with skill, and dances in a class. He likes to be active and to build or create. He builds with paper, blocks, wood, etc.
His sleep has always been an issue. As an infant in bed with us he was up many times a night. He slept in a room with us until he was 4 yrs. He has slept in his own room for almost 2 yrs, until the past few weeks. he is in our room again due to fears. He is not always able to articulate these fears but often his nightmares have to do with being chased or threatened. He is only afraid of thunder storms when they come at night.
Skylar is much more flexible now then in his younger years. Between @ and 4 he had a very hard tiem coping with life's ups and downs. He can still have an emotional breakdown over what I would call a small thing. Usually this will happen if he is tried, hungry, stressed, but it can happen otherwise.
Skylar is confident in his interactions with others. He tends to like to be in charge with peers, but is becoming more flexible here as in other parts of his life. He has adult friends, friends his age, and friends of both sexes.
The smooth bumps have been present for at least a year. They did not bother him. Over the last month the bumps have been going away and now the area is covered with rough, thick, red skin. This area now itches and is irritated if his pants are too tight or the fabric is rough. He can also become uncomfortable if sitting with his leg bent for much time. Ther are still a few smooth bumps, but most are gone. There are new bumps near his left buttock, in the fold wher ehis thigh and buttock join.
Please let me know if you need more info.
