Default Eczema

In a case of eczema,which has reached the stage of thickened skin,on feet,legs and hands,some area of trunk,with cracks in the skin;

aggravated mostly, in the night with severe itching,in a boy of 4 years old,a particular symptom of interest was noticed.

His palms and soles, particularly, soles become very cold to touch, after the bout of scratching is over.(this observation has been confirmed.)

what could be the remedy for such a condition and the line of treatment?

To decide on a remedy these symtpoms are inadequate.
This rubric can be used in concomittant with others (Skin, general symtpoms/modlaities, mentals) to finally decide the remedy:
EXTREMITIES; COLDNESS; Foot; soles (K964, G809): acon., ars., aur., calc., caust., chel., chin-s., colch., coloc., con., dig., graph., hyper., lach., laur., lith-c., merc., nit-ac., nux-m., nux-v., phos., rhod., sil., sulph., thuj., valer., verat.

SO without the complete picutre its anyone's guess. Sil, Caust, graphites are possibilites.

One more symptom observed lately is that, the itch subsides immediately when he was made to stand in a bucket of warm water. The same modality in case of itch of hand also.

Can you pl.tell me what other aspects are to be observed?

Shall be very thankful for your guidence.

Sorry,Madam

You indicated what to look for.

The skin is thickened from knee to foot, more on foot.He scratches uncontrolably, and by the time he feels satisfied, the skin becomes raw. Most of the time he starts rubbing, with one foot over the other, without waking up fully, when the itch comes.Any attempt to stop him from scratching,is resisted with anger and weeping.

He is a lovable boy,in normal times. Can handle the computer on his own,can switch it on,find his way, to the game he wants, and plays.

The problem is limited to legs, hands and feet. Some area in trunk also.

when asked why do you scratch at so many places one after the other, the actual word used is "it is jumping."He can speak English. He was born in U.S.A.and presently in India, living with his grand parents.

The itching is around four times a day,and is worse in nights. He will have about two bouts in the night.

The local homeopath so far tried Ars,Sulphur,Petroleum in 200 potencies, changing the medicine almost once in 10 days, which I feel is not correct.

Looking forward for your valuable commments

Murthy

When eczema is better in water it is not normal eczema. The callosities on the soles suggest Ant crud , which is better for hot , not cold water, Dont know if it fits any where else. Hope I do not intrude.

Hi Passkey

I feel like a loner here, and your post is such a relief.Don't make me feel embarassed.

I wrote soles!!Damn me.It is only on the foot, visible side.No eczema on soles.Infact even the fingers of the foot are clean.(I edited it to foot now.
See how convenient is the edit button).

It is I think Chronic atopic dermatitis. What I mean better by warm water means,if he is made to dip his legs in hot(warm) water, when the itching starts, his itching sensation is reduced.

Any further suggestions are most welcome.

Murthy

As it is worse at night it suggests syphilitic miasm , but as there is skin problem = Psoric then the combination is likely Tubercular . One remedy that spreads accross most miasms is Kali Sul - other worth a look is carsinsosin , if easy tan , blue white s to the eyes , olive skin . ?
