Default Gunpowder (2)

Concise post on Gunpowder :

Common name is black gunpowder. This remedy can be used in low to high potencies. Works sometimes better than e.g. Hepar sulph. in some (serious) cases.

Keynotes for using it in all animals from small ones up to horses are :

--Conditions relating to sepsis

--Abscesses

--Blood poisoning

--Bite wounds

--Infected cuts

--Osteomyelitis (esp. in horses)

Modalities : None listed.

Remedy interactions : Works well with Hepar sulph., Silica/Silicea and Thuja.

Principal indications : septic skin infections, septic wounds, abscesses, wounds that refuse to heal (!), suppuration, prophylactic use in preventing wound infections, splints where there is secondary infection.

Wim.

Thanks, Wim. Gunpowder is on my shortlist for my next order.

In this case, does "works well with Hepar" mean you might be able to alternate the two? I can see situations where I might not be clear which one to reach for.

Hi D,

Alternating would be possible because they follow each other well and are not (=don`t behave) inimical to one another.

But usually only one of them is given. To put it simply, you could say that Gunpowder is used in more serious (septic) conditions or if Hepar sulph. doesn`t/can`t solve the problem even though it was indicated in the first place. Also very useful for shelter animals with neglected wounds, cuts, etc. That`s why Gunpowder is good to bear in mind.

Addition :

Prof. Rehman mentions that Gunpowder in high potencies has proved very successful even in obstinate cases of psoriasis which have not yielded to the simillimum (i.e. the remedy that most closely corresponds to the totality of symptoms)
