I bought a bottle of 30 ppm and diluted 2-1 and inserted two drops into the kittens eye on two different days. I have no idea how effective it was because I don't know if any of it actually stayed in his eye. I had to consider the possibility that debri got into his eye because the air was VERY thick with debri. The condition appeared suddenly and it wasn't something that built up over time. Thanks Tracy, for pointing out that mother tinctures are not available in the USA. That explains why I couldn't find the calendula in Mother Tincture either. Maybe some non USA companies should sell Mother Tincture kits. Then we could use them to custom make our remedies too. |

I am not fond of colloidal silver either. I understand the risk of argyria especially in individuals who take it internally for a long period of time and that could be as little as more than ten (10) consecutive days. I didn't know how else to do get rid of a foreign matter in the kittens eye. That is why I diluted it and was very conservative about using it. Hope I never have to use it again. There is too much risk involved and too many people not being upfront about the risks (way too much emphasis on making money) Last edited by Pat2006; 12th April 2007 at 05:42 PM. Reason: spelling |

You could have asked me earlier !......There are always other possibilities to make a safe eyewash........Calendula, Hypericum, Golden Seal, Eyebright, etc...... and of course one should always consult the professional who treats your pet first if you intend to give something else which may confuse/spoil hom. treatment etc. !.......W.

Yes, I agree. I should have asked you first. It was a real stupid thing to do and I hope I didn't do anything I'll be sorry about later. Believe me it was a very difficult decision to make to use the CS in the first place.
So far his eye looks completly back to normal. I'm shopping online for mother tinctures to keep on hand for future use. Calendula, Hypericum, Golden Seal, Eyebright for eye washes need to be in tincture form? |

Hi Pat,
I was not particularly pleased because there isn`t any other vet. forum in the whole world where posts are answered (for free) by a professional so fast ! Usually even a few times a day ! You can order Calendula or Eyebright(Euphrasia) tincture from different companies in the USA. Just Google......I already mentioned one of them. Always strictly follow the way of diluting Eyebright/Euphrasia I mentioned earlier because too strong a dilution is painful to the eyes. W.

Well, heck - if any "ticture" will work then there are tons of possibilities in the U.S. I thought Mother Tinctures were something specific.
I'm still having trouble finding Cratgaegus berry (Hawthorn) tincture - just the berries, not the leaves and flowers. Seems like I ran across it on only one website..... Washington Homeopathic seems to have a pretty good selection of tinctures. Tracy |

Thank you, Tracy.
It is very confusing since they don't call them Mother Tincutures. They don't have a description of what tincture means either. When I call the health food stores they don't explain that they don't sell Mother Tinctures, but offer alternatives with an x. It is confusing for those of us who are new to homeopathy. |
