Default Feline Chlamydial Infection

Confirmation of this disease by a professional, e.g. vet, is necessary !

Main symptoms of the acute form are : acute conjunctivitis with thick or watery, purulent discharges which can be severe in young kittens. Often with sneezing and nasal discharge.

In the chronic cases the eyes are very `bloodshot` and they may discharge in the same way as with the acute form. Inflammation of the eyelids show as thickening.

Diagnosis can be confirmed in the laboratory by isolating the organism and by checking for antibodies.

Argentum nitricum 30c (or 30k), twice daily for 7-10 days should be given when the conjunctiva (= inner side of the eyelid ) is very reddened. Sometimes we see that the 3rd eyelid is swollen and there`s a thick, purulent discharge. (Argentum nitricum is esp. suitable for nervous animals that are afraid of being handled).

Kali bichromicum 30c (or 30k), 3 times daily for 7-10 days should be given when both the eyes are involved and the discharges are thick and yellow.

The Chlamydial nosode 30c is very useful as a preventative when infection is present in other animals or as treatment, particularly in young animals with gummy eyes(i.e. gummy sticky discharge leading to the eyelids sometimes sticking together) and other typical symptoms. This nosode can be used at the same time as an indicated remedy. Give one daily dose of this nosode for 7-10 days until amelioration.

Depending on different symtoms/modalities other remedies, such as Graphites, Lemna minor, Acid nitricum, Phosphorus and Hippozaeninum, may be indicated !

Remedies can also be selected according to constitutional type and presenting symptoms.
