Hello Sarah,
A hygroma of carpus or knee is a synovial swelling affecting the bursa of the knee joint on its anterior surface caused by an injury and sometimes the tendon sheaths of the associated extensor muscles are also involved. Give the Silicea 200c once daily for 2 weeks, but give update after 11-12 days. If there are lumpy deposits showing/present in joint then also give Calcarea fluorica 30c, one daily dose for 2 weeks. New prescription in the future, if still necessary and possible, will be based on the then presenting symptoms/situation. Wim

Well, I haven't been too good at keeping track of my days lately!
The weather has been nice, mares are getting ready to foal and it has been busy here! About a week ago, Sis must have slipped in the mud or something and her knee got really bad for a while. It has been improving again now and looked pretty good this morning. I did add a dose of Calc Fluor at night. I had been using the Calc Fluor and Silica on the other mare with the big knee so I figured it was ok to add it for Sis too. I know she has a spur in her hock too. I hope it was ok to do so. I should have checked..bad me. It has been about 16 days on the Silica 200c and about 7 days of having her on the Calc Fluor. She seems to be improving now. Should I continue this? I have a calender that I am writing everything down on now - I'm a little disorganized. |

Hi,
I could see Sarah having prescribed for Hygroma for her pet (horse). I have a St. Bernard (named "Luvy") aged 10 months. he is affected of Hygroma in both left and right elbows. Kindly recommend a line of treatment for the same or shall i first follow what has been recommended to Sarah, if yes, then what prescribed dosage of each should be given ? I look forward your help for the same. Thanx & Rgds Rajeev |
