Wounds may be closed (internal) or open (external).
Open wounds are usually due to some form of external damage and take the form of incised (clean cut), contused (blunt trauma), lacerated (irregular cut) or punctured.
In case of doubt always seek professional help !
Symptoms : Main symptoms can be pain, haemorrhage, fever (esp. if the wound is extensive, deep or punctured) and sometimes we see secondary involvement in the form of repair, which may take different/various forms, such as suppuration.
Arnica 30c or 30k should always be given as a routine remedy, esp. in contused wounds. Give 2 doses approx. 2 hours apart.
Hypericum 1M for lacerated wounds where nerve endings have been damaged and pain is obvious. Give one dose every 2 hours for 4 doses.
Ledum 6c or 6k for deep punctured wounds with surrounding cold and bluish skin. Give one dose every 2 hours for 4 doses.
Calendula 3x, 3c, 6x or 6c is given to assist healing of tissues. Give 3 times daily for 1-2 days.
Hypercal mother tincture (combination of Hypericum mother tincture and Calendula mother tincture) or Hypercal lotion or ointment can be applied externally twice daily and will be very helpful in promoting healing. You can make Hypercal tincture yourself by mixing equal parts of Calendula and Hypericum tincture.
Hypercal can be applied undiluted, but may also be diluted in a ratio 1:5 or 1:10. To make the dilution use distilled water or cooled boiled water.
Important : The administration of both Ledum and Hypericum internally may be helpful in the prevention of tetanus and should always be given when a wound is deep or likely to become infected !
One dose for a horse of each remedy is 4 tablets or 6 larger pellets/pillules, which may be incorporated in a small piece of soft brown bread or (organic) carrot or apple.
