Yes please Wim, can you tell us about those? It would come in handy to know which ones if the need were to arise. I will put it into my files of remedies and what for.

If you suspect salmonella in one of your animal companions immediate veterinary diagnosis and attention is required, because the infection may be a serious one and moreover it is a zoonosis !

A zoonosis is any disease in people acquired from an animal.

Main symptoms are : Acute form is a type of septicaemia (septicemia/blood poisoning) which may have a rapid onset showing symptoms such as : a high temperature, abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhoea (which may contain blood), prostration, general malaise and dullness and possibly death.

The condition can become chronic and symptoms may be present for weeks and animals that have had salmonella can appear to be healthy, but are actually still carriers of the disease and may spread it to other animals through faeces and urine.

Two important homeopathic remedies are :

Baptisia 6c (or 6k) or 12x, which is indicated because of its marked effect on the stomach and bowels and in cases of chronic toxaemia (= blood poisoning, i.e. the presence in the blood of the poisonous products of any disease-causing bacteria, or in other words, it`s a systemic disease caused by the presence of micro-organisms or their toxins in the circulating blood).

Baptisia should be given 3-5 times daily for 6-8 days until the animal clearly improves.

Pyrogen 30c (or 30k) is indicated if there`s septicaemia and may be used with good effect in additon to any conventional/allopathic drug/medicine prescribed by the vet. or hom.vet.

For diarrhoe and enteritis (a general term for inflammation of the lining of the small and large intestines, i.e. the bowels excluding the stomach) we can select, according to the presenting symptoms/modalities, one of the following remedies : Aconite (Aconitum) 6c, 12c or 30c (or 6k, 12k, 30k), Arsenicum album 30c (or 30k), Colocynthis 30c (or 30k), Croton tiglium 30c (or 30k), Mercurius corrosivus 30c ( or 30k), Nux vomica 6c (or 6k), Podophyllum 6c (or 6k), Sulphur 3c, 6x, 6c, 12x (or 3k, 6k) for enteritis with morning diarrhoe only, and last but certainly not least China officinalis 6c (or 6k).
