Default Reverse sneezing in dogs

Reverse sneezing may be caused by an elongated soft palate or is an after-effect (sequela) to the rabies vaccine.

You can try to reduce/cure the reverse sneezing in your companion by giving one of the following 2 remedies. If the symptom picture doesn`t fully fit the presenting symptoms/modalities seen in your dog, I`d try one or both of the remedies anyway, starting with Lyssin first.

Give one dose of one of the remedies, but only repeat if there was a good response to the first dose !

Lyssin (Lyssinum) 6c (or 6k) if your dog is sensitive to stimuli, desires to roam, is susceptible to allergic skin problems, is afraid of bright objects.

Lachesis 6c (or 6k) if your dog has or had thickened, blacked skin, is talkative, prefers the cold and doesn`t like wearing a collar.

Lyssin ( Hydrophobinum) is prepared from the saliva of a rabid dog.

Lachesis is prepared from the extremely poisonous venom of the Bushmaster (or Surucucu) snake, which lives in South America.

Wim, reverse sneezing is exactly what is happening with my dog! I had no idea of how to put this into words - so thanks for opening up this subject!

I have a small breed dog (lhasa apso) and she is reverse sneezing often. It becomes really bad sometimes and I am hopeless! I can not make any connections with anything. She actually does not seem to mind and every vet I asked said it is not a serious condition. But I also read that in older ages it may lead to collapsed trachea? Oh so scary..

She is very sensitive, affectionate, extremely stubborn, lieks to run free, and does seem to have some allergic skin problems. Most remarkably, constant licking of the genital area (or the anal glands, I am not so sure).

She had a full set of puppy vaccinations during childhood and she was vaccinated against rabies about 2 years ago the last time. I am not having her vaccinated against anything other than rabies any more. Rabies is required by law unfortunately.

It did not come to my mind that this may actually be a vaccine-related problem. In this case, I think Lyssin 6C is more suitable? I have it in 30C potency unfortunately, but can order 6C too if you think is necessary.

Much thanks,
Marin

The 30c might do the trick as well, but frankly speaking I`d try the 6c (or 6k) first, based on empirical proof.

But don`t worry.....it usually isn`t dangerous at all.

Sometimes you can stop an attack by clapping your hands loudly startling the dog which often results in the end of the attack.

You can also stroke the front part of the neck to stop the attack.
