My 11 week old miniature schnauzer developed a croupy type gagging cough where he appears that he's going to throw up but nothing comes up. He had a 5-way canine booster shot on Friday, August 25th, and the cough started the next morning when he woke up. He seems to cough when he gets up from sleeping. He eats a 1/2 cup of Science Diet puppy food twice a day. Any suggestions on what I could give him. I have an appointment at the Vet but I'm sure they'll end up giving him some sort of medicine.

Hi Sue,

This could be anything, tonsillitis,faryngitis,laryngitis,canine cough etc. When your vet has examined him give some more information and we can maybe look for an homeophatic remedy. What you always can do if your animal has an throat problem is the Priesnitz method: Wet a tea-towel with cold water (soak it well) put this around the throat of your animal, put another woolen scarf around this and leave this for 2 hours.
