Well, (an update) thanks to a fellow member, Tucson's collapsed trachea is a lot more manageble and he's been spared the surgical blade, which was never an option due to his age.
Now he's got something new going on that I hope someone can help us out with. About 2 weeks ago we noticed he was not walking or standing straight, at his hips he is twisted to the right, I thought it was perhaps because he needed his anal glands expressed (fellow dog owners know all about this right?). Well we had that done and there is no change, furthermore he is very sensitive when we pet or massage him below the waist, he doesnt yelp or show painful discomfort, but instead seems annoyed by it, but craves more when we stop...weird. Our vet seems to think he has had a mild stroke, but isnt sure w/out xrays. Then this week we noticed he is limping on his front leg, tough to tell which he is favoring, but after some massage he seems better which leads me to believe he is suffering from arthritis, what do you think? I wish he could talk... Anyway, I'm thinking glucosamine for that, any other thoughts? Finally, he has started developing black skin spots all over his lower half, some as large as a silver dollar, others as small as a eraser head the vet did a scraping & determined they arent cancerous (sp?), but since then I have noticed his hair is falling out in tufts at all the black spots. Does anyone have any idea what these are and how they could be treated? I'd appreciate your thoughts on this. Have a happy Easter! |
