Unhappy Corneal ulcer - homeopathy AND antibiotic ointment?

Hi, I'm so worried about my cat - he's had a bad-ish corneal ulcer for 10 days now. I've been putting tons of the antibiotic/healing ointment Framixin into his eye with little improvement. Would like to try Euphrasia, but will this be ineffective because he's on conventional medicine? what are the rules with mixing regular meds and homeopathy? Thanks in advance for all your suggestions and advice. Appreciate it!

Default Symptoms

Hello, thanks for the quick reply. Basically he has minimal discharge and just keeps his eye partially to totally closed. The ulcer is not deep according to the vet, but covers quite a large area of his cornea. He's eating well but is naturally quite despondent, though he will still play with his favourite toy, but not for long. Still affectionate and wandering around the house... when it's really bad, he normally hides in a dark place. Guess that's it. Thanks again!!

Default tell even more!

Hi

Is the eye red?
What is the discharge like ?- pus- watery- bloody? Stringy?

Does he object when you touch the eye?

Is he drinking plenty ?
Is he blinking ok ? Frequently?
Are the lids swollen ?

Did he have an injury to the eye ?

Smile

Is the eye red? - A BIT BUT NOT EXCESSIVELY

What is the discharge like ?- pus- watery- bloody? Stringy? THE DISCHARGE IS WATERY BUT OCCASSIONALLY SLIGHTLY STRINGY

Does he object when you touch the eye? HAVEN'T TRIED TO ACTUALLY TOUCH IT. BUT HE DOESN'T SEEM TO MIND WHEN I MASSAGE IN THE ANTIBIOTIC OINTMENT

Is he drinking plenty ? YUP, NO PROBLEMS.
Is he blinking ok ? Frequently? HARD TO TELL AS HIS EYE IS SHUT 90% OF THE TIME

Are the lids swollen ? YES, SLIGHTLY

Did he have an injury to the eye ? NOT THAT I KNOW OF. AND THE ULCER IS LARGE AND ROUND, SO DOESN'T LOOK LIKE HE SCRATCHED IT OR ANYTHING.

THANKS!!!

Talking Euphrasia - worked like magic!

wow - just had to post right away. Gave my cat two doses of Euphrasia yesterday and within hours he was so much better! Now he can open his eyes no problem and the cloudiness seems to have lessened. And what's so remarkable is that he's been on strong antibiotic ointments for days and no improvement. Yay, let's hear it for homeopathy!!

Unhappy Dreaded relapse

Sigh.... I really don't know what to do now. Blossom's eye seemed to be improving these last few days - eye open, playing, but then this morning i woke up to find him in distress and his eye shut again. I cleaned out greenish-yellow gunk from his eye (not much, just a few clumps here and there), administered the antibiotic drops, euphrasia and arnica. Then went to vet and she examined the eye: the ulcer is even larger than before!!! It's all the way up to the white tissue. The only good thing is that it seems less cloudy. She referred us to a specialist tomorrow. argh. Any ideas? Thanks.

Kali Bich 6X if the discharge is stringy. Deep-seated, crater with a punched out appearance. Dose one time daily for 7-10 days. Continue with Euphrasia eyedrops.

Use Phosphorus 30C if Kali Bich fails.

If corneal ulcer does not have a sharp margin (like Kali Bich's description), use Merc Corr 6X several times daily.

If during treatment red blood vessels appear on the cornea, give Aurum 6X.

If once treatment is completed, marks and scars remain, give Conium 6X, 3 x daily, followed by Calc Carb 12x if indicated.

Apis 3X for swelling of the conjunctiva.
