Default Dwarf hamster help (abdomen swelling up)

hi ladies and gentlemen,

My dwarf hamster is around 1yr old, been by itself, and has began swelling in the lower body. At first the swelling was somewhat minor, but today it's come to the point of where he had trouble getting back onto his feet if he was on his back.

he's eating fine, keeping food in his pouches, drinking fine, and is acting as he always has been. Is this a parasitic infection of worms or something in that area? I'm going to take him to the vet this weekend, but would like to see that other information I can gather.

Thank you all very much for your time,

chin f.
