I am new on the board.

Our cat who is 12 years old has just been diagnosed with cancer. We are 99.99% sure of the diagnoses.

I won't go into detail how we finally found out why he was really sick. However, I changed vets. I took him to the vet I take my dog.

The vet read the x-ray that I brought with me that our other vet took of him. Oops, forgot. Our cat's name is Gizmo. Dr. Batt's (vet's name) looked over all the labs and other things that were done to Gizmo. He looked over the full body x-ray that was done to Gizmo. After he was through palpating his "belly" I asked him if he felt anything. He said yes. I asked him if he saw anything on the x-rays I took him. He said yes. He showed me the area that looked suspicious. He then did an ultrasound on him. There were two areas that showed masses. The next day I took him in to have those two areas aspirated. He took a sample and looked under the scope and was sure it looked like cancer. However, he sent it to pathology and now we are waiting to find out for sure and what kind.

I met a lady in the vets office a couple of weeks ago when I took my dog in for her checkup. She told me about her dog who had liver cancer and was now cancer free. He went through chemo. She told me he was very sick and she started using flaxseed oil mixed with cottage cheese. She told me the amount. She said her dog acted entirely different the next day after eating the mixture.
Then, the day I took Gizmo in for the aspiration another lady was in the waiting area with her dog. He had cancer. I asked her if she had given her dog flaxseed oil. She said yes among other supplements. He too had chemo. She said his personality had not changed one bit even with chemo. Obviously, he was still rambunctious (good sign). I asked her if Dr. Batts had "prescribed" the flaxseed oil "remedy." She said yes. I believe the first lady I met told Dr. Batts about the flaxseed "remedy" and turned others on to it that worked in the office.

I've been giving him the oil. She told me what kind to get and I also researched it. My question is has anyone used this for their pet? My cat has lost quite a bit of weight. He used to weigh 16 lbs and now weighs about 11 1/2 lbs.
I've sorta been guessing how much cottage cheese and oil I'm supposed to give him.

Also, if anyone has used this has it been successful?

Thanks.

No sure flax seed oil is the best for an obligate carnivour like the cat. I would suggest salmon oil instead, cottage cheese is fine if dairy is tolerated by the animal.
