We were recently told that our 4 1/2 year old cairn terrier has lymphosarcoma. We are so distraught and are looking for any alternatives to make his last days as happy and playful as possible.
On April 12, 2001, we took him to the vet becuase he was snoring extremely loud and having problems breathing. They found his left tonsil to be 6 times it's normal size and removed it, it came back malignant. Since than he has good days and not so good days. He is on 20mg a day of Predisone, a special diet of raw meat, minerals, vegetables, olive oil and clostrum.
We suspect that the cancer is throughout his lymph glands, in his body, and want to make this as easy as possible for him.
For a dog, so young, that only 6 weeks ago was running, jumping, playing, barking and just being a puppy; he now lies around all day, does not run or jump any more, doesn't want to be picked up and still has trouble breathing, especially through the night. He also has a hard time drinking and eating his food, he still has an appetite but chokes alot when eating and drinking and it takes him twice the time to finish his meal.

Can anyone suggest anythting that will give him more energy, a better life?

We have decided not to put him through chemotherapy, we feel it would be cruel and selfish. We are not ready to put him down yet but we don't want him to suffer either. This not an easy decision.
Also, should we take him off the predisone?

Any suggestions are much appreciated.

Thank you

Very sorry that your little dog is sick. If no one responds soon on this BB you may want to try posting on http://www.homeoint.org/cgi-bin/forums
where someone will surely offer some excellent advice. I know that time is of the essence.

I have read that the effects of chemo treatments can be greatly reduced by using the remedy Cadmium Sulp, should you change your decision.

Wish you and your little friend all the best.

I have ordered Dr Clarks Parasite Cleanse. My question is, how do I know what dosage to give a 20 lb dog? Since there program is for human beings, which weight much more.

THanks SO MUCH for the info, I'm anxious to see if it makes a difference.

Thanks so much for your reply.

We took him to his vet today, not a homeopath, and they said he has a tumor the size of a lemon obstructing his breathing. They say he is in pain and we should put him down. DO you think there is any hope? especially since this is progressing at such a rate?

Since time is of the essense here, could you please send my the info on the pet zapper. That would be much appreciated!

I will find a homeopathic vet and take him there.

Thank you again again.

Thank you again.

I have already been in touch with a homeopath vet. Since I live in NYC there seemed to be several to choose from. I spoke to a Dr Jill Elliot today and we are starting my dog on essiac tea this weekend, and I have an appt with her on Monday. I will let you know what happens.

Have you tried Flax Seed Oil, and Cottage Cheese? On Shirley's Wellness Cafe.com there are a couple of testimonials of people curing their dogs with this, can't hurt to check it out. My Dog has Diabetes and started him on it to protect him. Good Luck
