Hi!

Our cat was hit by a car on Thursday night. I used Arnica 200c and Aconite 30x to keep him going until we could get him to a vet the next morning. The injuries were not as bad as they might have been. However, his left hind leg bone was pulled out of the hip socket and the vet could not get it to stay back in. He had surgery on Saturday to remove the end of the bone, the idea is that in a small animal the muscles are strong enough to support movement without the ball/socket arrangement.

When he comes home on Monday he will have antibiotics, pain pills and the remains of whatever sedatives that were used for the x-rays, manipulation and surgery.

I would like some advice on a course of homeopathics to help wih his recovery.

Many Thanks, PupAuPair

P.S. Teri, I was so sorry to hear of Sable's accident. I think you came to the right place for help and support for her full recovery.

pupaupair,
Sorry to hear about your cat!! This just isn't our pets week....is it?? I'm so glad that they both made it......didn't think Sable was going to! It was real bad!!
Thanks so much for the kind words....they mean alot to us!!
So, does this homeopathic medicine really work, and is it safe for them. I was reading up on some of them, and they were saying not to give this stuff to pets, too many bad side effects in test animals.
But, if you are using it, and it's not hurt your kitty........well then I guess I should trust it too!!
I need to get her something that will take some of her pain away.....there are times when I can tell she is REALLY hurting!! Will this Arnica do that??
Good luck to you and your kitty-kat!!
Teri

Arnika takes the pain, but mixing with acon, was not smart, besides, arn relaxes muscles, so it probably why it wont hold the bone in place, i advice to wait with that op a week.

Question

Very sorry to hear about your poor kitty......how lucky he is to have survived and have caregivers that are doing so much to save his life. All good wishes for his recovery.

GM.....I think they mean the surgery has already been done.......what would help the cat regain the use of the leg without the joint intact? I think they need the master's touch here.

Well, it figures. Now I feel like a real donkey's behind!

I sent several posts to the BB about Barkley but I forgot that the usernames, etc. are all lower case letters and my letters were all rejected. By the time the host could get back to me the operation was done. My vet was out of town and the back-up vet is straight allopathic. (A very caring person, too. So when a vet says "operate" I have no right to say 'No".) The cat is my Moms.
The operation was done on Saturday. Today is Monday. We will pick him up today. I will post how he is doing when we get him home. I hope he is in a mood to accept my apology.

Thank you, PupauPair

pupaupair,

You owe no apologies to the kitty. You did the very best that was available to do. He is alive and coming home.......do you know how many people would do nothing if they saw a cat in the same condition? And how many would ask the vet what would be cheaper...to "fix" or euthanize? How many have a cat with a problem and drop them in the woods or take them to the shelter, rather than put out the effort to help them?

Maybe GM will have some advice to help the kitties recovery......good luck.

pupaupair,

Sure hope your kitty is doing well. Sounds to me like you did the very best you could do at the time.
I think loving care is a big part of healing, especially for the little ones.

Warm Thoughts,

Thank you, GM.

I had given him that remedy when he came home on Monday as I was not sure of any other remedy but I had previously had success with Arnica in these situations. It feels good to know I did something right. Would you consider Calendula for help with the healing?

Today is Thursday. Barkley is doing fine and began to walk yesterday. He is taking Amoxi 100 Mg., one tablet every 12 hours. He does not seem to need the pain pills. Thes stitches are begining to itch but I am reluctant to put anything on them. I do not want to encourage him to lick them. The right leg is still wrapped, the hock laceration has not closed yet.

Otherwise he is being treated like a Middle-Eastern prince, hand cut organ meats, fresh sheets and lots of family hugs.

Thank you everyone!
