Question

I was wanting to ask about the homeopathic remedies, Symphytum and Calcarea Carbonica.
My 2 year old female Rott, Sable, was in a horrid accident a few days ago... she was hit by a grain truck.
Thank God, she didn't die!!.... but she did get a badly broken jaw. The vet had her in surgery for over 2 hours, wiring her jaw. She will have to keep it wired for 6 weeks. All food has to be pureed to a total liquid.
She is having a real rough time.
She will take a few laps of water a few times a day, but that's about all. Just about all my attempts to get her to eat something, has failed.
I did what the vet said and made her food a liquid, and I have also tried things like Jello and Gator-Aid, but not a whole lot of luck.
He gave me a antibiotic to get down her, but also to no avail.
If something don't change soon, she will have to go back to the vet and stay there with IV's in her.
I was told about these alternative medicines yesterday, but I don't really know enough about them to make the decision on whether to try them or not.
Will they be alright for Sable to take.....and will they help her jaw heal better and faster? Is there a liquid form of these? Are there any dangers whatsoever with these medicines and vitamin supplements?
If anyone else has gone through anything like this before, that might have some suggestions for me, I need all the help I can get with this one!!
I feel so sorry for her. And when she looks at me with those sad eyes....it just breaks my heart!! I feel so helpless!! I know she is in pain, but I can't seem to find anyway of helping her.
It has been 7 days since this happened, and 8 days since she had the wire put on. It's going to be a long 6 weeks!!!!!
Thanks,
Teri

Question

Thanks for replying to me so soon.
Would you mind telling me a little about these?
Calcium phos 12....is that calcium and phosphorus? Is it to help her bones to heal...and/or anything else?
Arnika 200...what is that for? Could either of these hurt her in any way??? Any side effects????
Sorry so many questions.....but, I have just not ever heard of these medications and supplementals, and I'm trying to learn all I can about them before I give them to her.
Thanks again,
Teri

teri,

Sorry about your dog's problem. You may want to try unflavored Pedialytes (for babies) rather than the Gator Aide and you will find many food supplements in the pet stores that will supply the needed nutrients on a temporary basis until she is feeling well enough to eat on her own........NutriCal, Nutr-stat, Stat, Pounds Plus and Esbilac Adult to mention a few.

If you have questions regarding the remedies suggested, you can find a lot of information on the opening page of homeopathyhome.com. Good luck.

Hi, Teri!

I don't know where you are--can you find any books on homeopathy locally? A healthfood store or Barnes & Noble? I was lucky to have a friend with knowledge and an extensive library to introduce me to this discipline. My most remarkable experience with Arnica 200c was with a Doberman who had been mauled by a Rottie (It's a long story that I can't go into here). I was treating her exclusively by homeopathy on her owner's instructions. Her injuries were doing well, but her mentals were so depressed, she just laid on the floor like she was waiting to die. I called the owner, "Arnica 200c for the shock and trauma of being beaten and call me in 1 hour". In 20 minutes she got up and asked to go out to relieve herself, came back in and demanded breakfast! That quick, a complete turn-around!

And the Cal. Phos. My friend took a direct kick from a mare she was medicating; one hoof to the cheek and one to the chest. She went to the doctor and a x-ray comfirmed a cracked rib. She treated homeopathically and three months later the doctor said he must have read the x-ray wrong because he could not find the injuries.

The remedies work on animals and people (I even saved a lizard I had accidentally sprayed with WD40, boy, I thought it was a gonner). The trick is, it is not just like taking a pill for a headache, one remedy works on one kind of headache, another remedy works on another kind of headache. These remedies have been carefully tested and the results written down following the rules of Homeopathy (If this substance produces this reaction in a healthy person and you see this similar reaction in a sick person, this substance will remedy this "sick" reaction.) You develope a skill for finding out what kind of headache you are dealing with and give the matching remedy. It is both simpler and more complex and this is getting to be too long a post.

Just listen to the advice here and do what you think is best for Sable, everyone here wants to help.

Rotties Rule!
