I am hoping that someone can recommend a homeopathic treatment for my ten-year-old miniature daschound. She has had life-long, chronic back pain due to two mildly herniated disks near the base of her tail. She was hospitaized in 93 for back spasms and has also suffered from seizures relating, I believe, to the damage to her spine. Three days ago, she was dragging her hind legs and having a hard time holding herself upright. My homeopathic vet was out of town, and the allopathic vet covering for him gave my god a cortizoone shot and told me to keep an eye on her. The next day it was much worse; she was not able to stand or use the bathroom. I took her to a university pet hospital, where they did x-rays and saw pressure on her spine. They then did surgery and discovered that one of the disks in her neck was herniated and beginning to paralyze her. They then remove the excess disk material. She has since regained function of her legs, although she is still very weak. Prior to three days ago she had shown no symptoms for 1 1/2 years; I believe that she had been stepped on by one of my other dogs. I feed her a raw diet w/ raw bones. My question is, what can I give her to help her recover from the surgery, and what can I give her to help her old herniations heal? The vet who did the surgery was concerned that the one in her neck was not the only problem. Thanks so much.

Thanks for the recommendation. I'll try it. As for Mouse's personality, she is a little grouchy, but very attached to me. She loves food of all kinds but never drinks a lot of water. She is sensitive to cold and insists on sleeping fully covered. She is very defensive of her space and barks nonstop at strangers, both dog and human. However, she gets along quite well with my two other dogs and my cat. She is on the top of the pack, even though she is about 30# smaller. About two years ago she got a cataract in the left eye but her right eye is fine. She also tends to grow plaque on her teeth quickly, and had her four front bottom teeth pulled about 1 year ago. Two weeks ago she was bitten on her face by a dog and had to have stiches, which healed quickly and well, although I am wondering if the attack might have triggered the disk problems. I would love to hear if you have any more suggestions for her; she is coming home from the hospital and I want to help her recovery as much as possible. Also, would you recommend acupuncture to help her back? Thanks, Raven.

Please help ASAP! My poor dog came home from the vet on Saturday, and I dosed her with Arnica 200. Sunday, she was walking and happy, although she did not want to be separated from me at all and she was still weak and wobbly. This morning, her head was turning severly to the left and she was walking in circles. I couldn't take her to my homeopathic vet until Wednesday, so she went back to the hospital. Now they are saying that there might be something wrong with her brain, and they are keeping her overnight for monitoring. Is there anything that I can do? I really don't want her to have surgery again. Prior to the surgery, she was turning slightly to the left and it was also her front left foot that went out. She is also having problems going to the bathroom; she didn't pee for over 12 hours, I believe, and she defecated like she had no control over it. Thanks for any help you can give. Raven.

Get acupuncture imidiately this is a severe dislocation in the spine, maybe a chiropractic could help acute, fear that the bladder/sphincter function is blocked by it..thats dangerous, and thats why it keep turining, nothing with the brain to do this behaviour!

Hi Corvine22,

I am very sorry to hear Mouse is having such difficulty. I hope the treatment tomorrow helps.
I will be thinking of you both. I know this must be a very anxious time for you. Wish I could make it easier for you.

Warm Thoughts,
