Question

My 4 1/2 year old beagle had a ruptured disk 1 1/2 years ago. She was treated with Prednisone (the alternative to surgery) and did fine. She now is exhibiting the same signs of a sore/painful back. Has anyone else gone through this? Any suggestions? The soonest we can get to a homeopathic vet is late August.

Daisysmom, please don't give any more prednisone to your dog. please read my posting "homeopath works with the right homeopath". my little dog has suffered greatly from prednisone treatment from allopathic vets. wait for advise from this board, please. GM will probably answer you. you can get no better advise for your little dog.all forms of prednisone destroy , it does not heal.

GM - she normally is very interested in food and playing with toys. Now she barely eats her dinner, hasn't played with her toys since Saturday, and does a lot of laying around, when she is able to get comfortable. Most noticable is she doesn't move her head to look up at me, and she doesn't shake off water after being outside.

GM - here is some more info if you have time: when she had the ruptured disk (sorry, don't know for sure which one, but it was near her tail) a year and a half ago, Prednisone was given for 1 month and she has not had any since. I have not taken her to the vet for this apparent upper back/neck pain yet. Her bowels and urine are fine, her water intake is good. She eats, just not with the same "gusto". She will eat out of my hand. She does not appear to be swollen anywhere - I have tried gentle massages at night and have not noticed any changes. She does not snap or cry when you touch her back. She has let out a cry, as if she has a shooting pain, when walking. This only happens when she is on a leash, so I think this may be in her upper back/neck, not the same disk as last time. This all started on Saturday the 8th. She is being given Claravox (antibiotic) for a bladder infection/blood in urine, starting on Friday the 7th. She had a Rabbies vaccine about 2 months ago.

If you need any more information, please let me know. We really appreciate your help!!!

GM - I don't know if this will help, but my husband reminded me of three things last night: 1) we moved into a new house July 1 - I am airing it out as much as I can every day 2) we went on a 1-2 mile walk in hilly terrain Saturday morning, and she is usually tired the rest of the day (she was) and 3) she does not want to jump on the couch like she normally does. Thanks again!!!

Spayed?? You mean castrated?
If, that points to cimicifuga, if the ovaries are taken.. use c 200 one dose, but there is damage from corticosteroids here, so phosp c200 one dose is needed first.
Also, check the older post for a proper diset for dogs.
