Has he been checked for immune related viruses like FeLV and FIV? In the short term I would probably try to boost the immune system (good food, perhaps some supplements). Also if describe in more detail (kinds of discharges, times of day more current symptoms, other inconsistancies that reflect his heath at the moment), perhaps some remedy suggestions may follow.

Yes, his flare ups last more than a few days. After he was given antibiotics & a Depro shot, he would get well for a couple of months & then it comes back. The vet is not concerned about his lungs & thinks that he just needs to strengthen his immune system with the Inteferon, then he would be able to fight off these infections. Now that I have decided to go the homeopathic route, I have not been back to the vet, nor is he taking Inteferon any longer.
No, none of my cats go outside. They are strictly indoor cats!
He usually doesn't have any discharges, sometimes his eyes will have a small clear discharge. Once he starts having one of his "wheezing periods", it is usually constant, a bit worse at night & when he first wakes up. There just are no other symptoms, unless it is left to continue on for weeks, at which time it develops into a throat infection.
