Default Bailey's book on homeopathic psychology

Does anyone else have Bailey's book? I love it and I'd like to ask for some clarification of his thoughts on Sepia's relationship to energy flows. Does Ignatia have the same awareness of her energy? He says Sepia favors yoga and dance, and is aware of the natural energy in her body, its flows, and blocks. Would this also be true of Ignatia?

He says it's laziness when a homeopath can't decide on the personality profile but, instead, wants to say there's a mix. Does anyone here agree or disagree? I think he does say there can be a mix but not very often.

Thank you so much for your thoughts. I really appreciate it!

In Bailey's book on the constitutional remedies, he talks about the Sepia's awareness of her energy and that she is attracted to yoga and dance. He says "Unlike the majority of people in modern times, healthy Sepia women are still aware of the energy inside their body, its natural flow." Is this also true for Ignatia?

Yes I do think its for the most part a lenthy process of finding the 'constitutional" remedy for any patient that askes for our help. That is why this process is not done on line via a discussion forum.
Sometimes we see patients change due to severe trauma/events....................this may effect the const. But for the most part from my personal expierence seeing patients they stay the same const. Each patient of course do show indiv. traits.............but the true essence stays. Now there are the "Shadow sides" of each const. the ying and yang of the same const. I believe Bailey does access this a bit in his book. (he speaks of several 'types' of each const).....................................

Why focus so much on SEPIA?(are you self presc?)

Homeopathy treats the person as a whole. This means that homeopathic treatment focuses on the patient as a person, as well as his pathological condition. The homeopathic medicines are selected after a full individualizing examination and case-analysis, which includes the medical history of the patient, physical and mental constitution etc. A miasmatic tendency (predisposition/susceptability) is also often taken into account for the treatment of chronic conditions. The medicines given below indicate the therapeutic affinity but this is not a complete and definite guide to the treatment of this condition. None of these medicines should be taken without professional advice.

My suggestion on self prescribing,"Dont".............you cannot look at your self subjectively. Many classical homeopaths in practice for decades do not even know their own constitution.

a reply to you by similibus july 9th regards sepia;for that you need constitutional treatment from a professional homeopath.

Go easy on that Sepia though! - it's probably not the remedy for you (and even if it is you have already had enough!!!)

Neither is correct.
I love to study animal constitutional types but it is not as easy to
do as one might expect.
If I fail to find the one that is the correct match for an individual
it is not due to laziness, (though when I try and try and still do
not see it I confess to frustration feelings!) but failing to find it
is due to the facts that:
- the details of each constitutional type (in health) are not
exactly easily found in the repertory
- an individual can match ANY remedy - there is no limit.
THERE WILL BE A SPECIFIC MATCH ON CONSTITUTIONAL TYPE - NOT A MIX -
for any one individual.
It is only people who like to pretend there are a finite and limited
number of types, that have a "mix" idea (because nothing will, fit of
course) - the fact is *they* IMO are mixed up!

Just as with finding a simillimum - so too a constitutional type must
be found - from ALL the possible remedy options - not from some
"conveniently" chosen few that someone or other declared to be "the
only options"!

Finding a simillimum is a LOT easier than finding the individual's
constitutional type:-)
We need to differentiate these terms!

The simillimum depends on the presenting picture including ill health
symptoms - and the repertories are full of clues of ill health, so
that is a lot easier to work with.

But finding the constitutional type is something I like to do when
the animal is in good health - so as to use the constitutional type
remedy prophylactically to boost health.
It works like a charm - IF I can discern the right remedy. When there
is apparent good health, (even though damaged internally by vaccines,
miasms, etc) it is far harder to see the constitutional type. There
are physical traits that would help and which are specific to a
constitutional type, except they are not (yet) recorded in the
repertory in any significant way (as they are not relevant for
simillimum selection) - so one has to go by what little is there for
the healthy individual. THIS makes it hard to find the constitutional
type.
Simillimum is a LOT easier:-)

Namaste,
Irene

Take a look at the Mati Fuller Book called: "BEYOND THE VEIL OF DELUSIONS" Through HOMEOPATHY.

A great book on constitutional typology, wonderfull chapter on Sepia
Goes into more of the "relationships"
of two different typology constitutional types.

Interesting reading........................

To get a well rounded view of a remedy it is necessary to review several materia medicas. There are plenty of these and they are all useful. I would NEVER use this book. Its long winded, watered down and misleading. I'm not saying that this was Philip Bailey's intent - he got caught up in the "psycho pop" profiling of remedy types which was all the rage 20 years ago. Chuck it away and don't self prescribe - sepia is a powerful healing agent which means it can powerfully disorder your health if it's not prescribed along homeopathic principles.

Get down to your local homeopath and support their hard earned training and work!

Very true. And most of them fail when they try to do the 'constitutional' therapy on others, as constitution is not a disease. The 'changed' symptoms since the onset of illness is the only guide for proper selection of the remedy. Not the details about how her eyes are, whether she is scrawny or not, whether she has a flat chest or not, not even her likes and dislikes, if she had the same set throughout her life.

There is nothing like a constitutional remedy which is a fit for all the problems the patient has and is likely to have in future.

Hi Murthy,
I always have trouble with this statement (even when I read it in the
Organon!):

Then how does one proceed when the onset of illness was *birth*? (As
is *quite* frequently the case nowadays; I have to look no farther than
my family for examples of that.) I know what answer *I* use (and of
course these ill-from-birth children can be successfully treated), but
I am curious what you will reply.

Dear Shannon

Believe me. I expected this question.

If you are sure that the onset of illness is since birth, start from there. That is the way it has to be for the present day cases like ADD, ADHD and a host of other similar illnesses.

However when there is a perceptible change say since grief/ having typhoid/ pregnancy and delivery etc..etc, then it is better to start from there, so as the current layer is effectively removed.

As each layer is removed try to go back in history , if it is possible. In many cases you won't have reliable data to go back very far.

If you can really go back to the stage when the person is born (if he has born healthy) by succesfully removing each layer, then only the concept of a 'constitutional' medicine perhaps make sense.

However even then, another misfortune, another infection, another indiscretion may change the picture again and you need a different remedy.

I don't believe in the concept of a constitutional remedy helping even the acute problems. If the same acute problem is recuring time and again despite each episode being cleared with acutely chosen remedies, it is the time to go back to the timeline when this particular complaint started. There is no point in going further back unless this problem is succesfully resolved.

I can quote the case of my wife. (My most experimented upon patient. :-).) She used to get bouts of fever and cold and coryza quite often. Every time I used to abort with the appropriate medicine. But there is no let up in the frequency of once in in a month or so,until I gave a single dose of Typhoidinum. It is now almost a year since she had fever.

We can discuss further.

Murthy
