Edouard,

Maybe in your zeal to defend homeopathy, you've been misled. I don't see any evidence of "accreditation". Do you?

Default advertising on this list- was Re: Re: Re: January 9 - Introductionto Homeopathy OnLine Class - Class#35a - Part 1 of 2 , Basic Level

This raises a more fundamental issue though, and it's one that's
concerned me for some time on this forum and one of several that stopped
me from contributing to it several years ago. To date, despite requests,
I've had no response from Jon on this, which is a shame because it is
his list and he makes the rules. While we all know that Dana and others
with books and courses to sell do things that ultimately benefit
homeopathy, do we want this forum to be used for direct commercial
purposes? Personally, I'd prefer it wasn't.

I stand corrected.

Should a non-accredited homeopath have the right to advertise her courses on this site? It s not for us to decide, but could she be inadvertently spreading misinformation?

Accredited by whom?

I certainly do not wish to see commercial advertisements on any of the lists
I am member of, but certainly MEMBERS of the list should have the
opportunity to tell others about their courses, publications, books, talks,
etc, they create and spend time making available to others.

Those are your views Robert.

There are many new people to homeopathic lists who need to know more and don't fully understand the art of repertorising, or how to choose between remedies that are similar etc etc.

Sheri's course is certainly worth taking for any newbie. I took it many years ago myself and it certainly helped me to understand better.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with people advertising their books, courses, seminars etc etc on lists such as these. How else are those interested going to know what's being offered? Furthermore, if such courses didn't serve their purpose or turned out to be a waste of money, then these lists would serve to advertise that, too. BUT Sheri is a good teacher for people who are new to homeopathy.

How do we know what qualifications she has. Former RN. What does that mean?

Why doesn't she post her course in the classifieds section where it belongs?

Edouard,
FWIW, many of us here *do* know her qualifications, because she has
been on this list and other homeopathy lists for many years, as a very
active participant (much more so in the past). We *do* know her
background and qualifications. I have not taken her course, but I
have no doubt at all that the material is good. I'm curious, what's
your reason for objecting?

In absence of that opinion (which would hold regardless of others),
I have a my view as a list owner of several other lists:

I think it is great to know about these things that people worked hard
on, and it seems to me this is exactly the kind of thing this list is
about - learning more about homeopathy, and having options of how to do
so. I'd not like an out and out commercial advertisement for the sole
purpose of making money and without regard to the homeopathy objectives
of the list - like a car commercial for example.

> do we want this forum to be used for direct commercial

With respect, may I suggest that you delete the posts that have
potential for homeopathic educational opportunity then, along with any
other category you prefer to avoid.
It's a good feature of email that one has *individual* control over what
one receives and/or reads.

For example if there is a "troll" on the list (which I find far more
objectionable than say, someone who has taken the time to write a book
on homeopathy!), it is a simple matter to place a filter on the email
address of the troll so that no email is ever viewed from them; there is
not even the need to delete - it just goes straight to the trash folder
and you do not need to even know it existed.
So I would recommend you just make more use of the power of your
email browser to see only what YOU want - without affecting what others
may want to see. It's so nice that we DO have individual control - even
without the list owner taking the opportunity:-)

Namaste,
Irene

edouard

I see from your profile at otherhealth that your location is
Australia and you state your occupation as "Activist".

What does that mean?

YES she should. I am not taking them right now, but I am very glad to know
about them. Why don't you just cool it and use that delete button? Teresa
(Northern VA)

BTW If your messages came with a personal address the way our Minutus ones
do, I would be writing to you, Edouard, not to what I believe (but do not
know, in view of Gimpy) is another homeopathic list-serv.
