Can anyone suggest reasons why a cow would give milk without ever having been bred? Pituitary tumor is one possibility that's been given. Can anyone think of other possibilities? The only other thing that seems distinguishing about her is, her appearance appears to my less-than-expert eye to be more bull-like than any of our others--heavier shoulders and slimmer hips. Temperamentally I don't see much to say--she pretty much acts like a cow, tho I'd say better-mannered than some of our others, maybe just because being milked is a welcome relief for her! (The others are just highly paid lawnmowers, and don't go in for the milking thing.) For the bull-like (slightly) appearance the only rubric I've found to look at is "Generalities, hair, distribution masculine in women", cortico (but that's adrenal rather than pituitary, isn't it? Plus, it's not in the "milk in non-pregnant women" rubric.). There've got to be more relevant rubrics than that, tho...? Thanks for any thoughts! Shannon |
