Default Nat Mur 6x cures Muscle Cramps

Members of this forum may have read of my treating a 78 year old lady who had been suffering from recurrent bouts of Cellulitis which had landed her in hospital for treatment with antibiotics on 3 previous occasions which cured the problem temporarily but predisposed her to reinfection. I treated her with a daily dose of Arnica 6c and ever since starting the therapy, she seems to have overcome her recurrent problem as she has not been to hospital for over a year.

She was also a confirmed Insomniac who would only sleep for about 3 hours at night and she confirmed that since starting on the nightly dose of Arnica she slept deeply but she would awake occasionally with cramps in her calf muscles. The frequency of these muscle cramps increased in the recent past.

This patient is also a Type 2 Diabetic and suffers from Hypertension and her diet is carefully controlled with a salt free diet. She appealed to me to help her and I gave her 2 tablets Nat Mur 6x to be taken before sleep.

She reported after a few days that she noticed an immediate relief from cramps and sleeps so soundly that she has to be woken up by her children in the morning.

I was amazed that Nat Mur 6x which has a concentration of only 1/1 Millionth of Sodium Chloride could have prevented her muscles from cramping which was obviously due to the lack of salt in her diet.

Dear Joe
I have always used mag phos 6c for muscle cramping, works great and quickly with only one dose.

But then again just taking magnesium will also help (the supplement)

I assume you mean Nat Mur prevented the cramps due to lack of salt.
That is indeed interesting!

Dear Shannon,

It is interesting to note that you saw my reference to Nat Phos which I had typed in my first post which I corrected to read as Nat Mur within about 5 minutes after I discovered the error. This occurred as I had pressed the Submit Reply button instead of the Preview Post button. You will see that the correct version appears in my post above.

I am so very involved with Nat Phos today for weight reduction that I seem to be getting mixed up when I meant Nat Mur (common salt).

I worked out the etiology for the cramps and thought that I should test Nat Mur 6x on this patient as she was on a low salt diet and it worked wonderfully. This is the reason which prompted me to make my post as I wished to share another of my 'discoveries' with others on this forum.

I do wish that others too will follow my example by posting the response of their patients for any remedies which they used with success, especially if they are not listed in the classical texts. This will enable those who read about it to also use the remedy for a similar ailment which can help the patient perhaps better than in the case of using the standard remedies.

I have another case of a patient with Type I Diabetes whose blood sugar levels plumetted with just 2 doses of Arnica 6c that I gave him for a wound on his toe which was not healing for some months. Unfortunately he stopped taking the remedy immediately he had this interesting response as he was not comfortable with any Homeopathic remedy. It is of course possible that he used a higher dose of Insulin when he injected himself but if this drop was due to the Arnica, it would have been historic. I do wish that he had continued as it is not impossible that this may be another Rx for type I Diabetes which could have been another first for Arnica.

Dear Gina,

My patient who is the 78 year old lady is completely dependent on Arnica 6c which I gave her as a prophylactic against Cellulitis which she was coming down with clockwork regularity every 6 months which landed her in hospital for treatment with Antibiotics. She was treated for 2 weeks in hospital each time on 3 separate occasions and when she was discharged she is usually in a very low condition as a result of the strong antibiotics she was given to overcome the infection which also included suspending her legs above her head level to reduce the oedema.

The Arnica saved her from any repeat infections for over the last year and she was also able to sleep very soundly with it till a few weeks ago when she started to get muscle cramps in her calf muscles which were very painful and would jolt her awake. Since I knew that she was taking other drugs for her Type II Diabetes and also for her mild Hypertension, I felt that these cramps were due to her lack of salt and replace the salt with the Nat Mur 6x which worked like magic. She has now to take a tablet every night to avoid the cramps and I prefer to give this to her instead of the Mag Phos which I also use but for cases of stomach cramps when I give the 6x or 30x. This remedy is also excellent to relieve menstrual cramps.
