Person has trouble walking, can hardly feel his feet, feels like he feet have heavy leather soles when barefoot, his knees hurt due to the impact of his feet on the ground. Now this person went for a ride on a boat (small ship), the ship rocked and people used to walking on land found the rolling of the deck unsettling, the above person had no problem walking on that ship, and was not in any pain at all during the boat ride. Once the boat came ashore, and he got off the boat, his problems walking re-appeared as did the pain. Makes no logical sense, but it is a wonderful SRP. Any thoughts? I could say 'better on the water", but I would think the 'better by the ocean rubric would apply, but I know of one time this person was feeling fine on the mainland, but went to a shore town on the ocean and became almost totally crippled (couldn't walk at all without a cane), and then returned home and was better. Warmly, Maria |

Maria,
What you describe is more likely a reaction to the uneven nature of the boat on water than the water itself, as he was not on the water or the ocean. It has more to do with the rolling gate on the water and the way he uses his muscles structurally than the effects of the ocean, for instance, this is not like bathing in the ocean, or walking on the beach. It is more like walking on uneven surfaces ameliorates. Good luck Melanie |

Could be the rocking offered a type of massage to his legs and the soles of his feet. Maybe the way he had to use his legs on the boat was therapeutic. Could an elliptical stepper simulate the rocking of a boat?
