Default sequoia remedies

Hi bonnie, 2 species have information in Referenceworks.
==========
Sequoia sempervirens (California Coast Redwood)
Possibly the minimum theme of maximum value is dream of finding perfect soulmate, and the longing process thereof--though this comment is from hearsay from those who proved the remedy (whom I used to know personally)---I have never used the remedy in a case. I live among these trees and have for 20 years. They are technically *immortal* as the root stock never dies and keeps sprouting new trees of the same genetic stock. So immortality is another possible theme, although it came out in the proving as "feeling very old". They are the tallest trees in the world. There is also the actual proving by Birch and Rockwell, not reproduced here.

==========
Sequoia gigantea (Giant Sequoia)
is an inland tree of Southern California, and is one of the longest living tree specimens of any world specie (Bristlecone Pine of the same general habitat might live longer).
The Prometheus organization provides a lot of information (I assume from a short-term proving of the type they do, and from the looks of it, clinical experience. Their main theme seems to be "naivete" and childlike attitude and difficulty processing emotions, with unapproachability, aloofness, and haughty appearance. "Gentle Giant" type with great patience, too open and hurt by others while not understanding why or how. Grief from past occurrences. Alternating sense of ethereal lightness and stone-like heaviness. Used when case stalls (sulph, oak) or remedies fail to act or act completely in a case of this sort.

==========
Metasequoia is a related species of Asia (China). It has no proving, as far as I know.

Hope this is helpful.

Best,
Andy

Desai:
The Redwood is one of the two in the Taxodiaceae family, Conifereae. It occurs in a narrow costal strip along the Pacific cost. They are the tallest trees on earth. The needles grow on spirals round the branches. They grow to more than 100 meters & for more than 1000 yrs. Because of their acridity trees are almost immune to moulds that cause wood rot. They have such a thick bark that they are protected from forest fires. The other reason ensuring their long life is that they reproduce from sprouts that spring from the trunk. The young trees can be often seen around the old trunks, giving it better start than seedlings. They are also the fastest growing; there is no phase of aeold age‚ in the ordinary sense. Death comes if being cut down or falling down because of their tallness & having their roots too shallow in the soil. Provides excellent wood for carpentry / furniture.

MIND: Difficult concentration or clarity of thought. Irritability, desires solitude. Overwhelming feeling of being old. Feeling all the trials of being 40years old. Sensation has burnt out the fires of life. Feeling of well being, feels new & rejuvenated as if it‚s a fresh start. Relaxed in tense situation.
Opposite effects in different poeple. Sycotic remedy.[hydrogenoid constitution, over production of mucus, voracious appetite, rheumatic complaints] Great exaustion # feeling of well being. Fluid retention. Pains griping, constructive, aching.

Sequoia gigantea

Giant Sequoia: Big Tree: Mammoth Tree: Sierra Redwood.
Sequoiadendron Giganteum (Sequoia Gigantea).
GIANT REDWOOD. One of the tallest and longest living trees in theworld, capable of growing to 300 feet in the Sierra Nevada in California. Living up to 3,000 years, it has evolved to produce striking chestnut coloured, extremely thick, spongy, bark, which insulates it from natural forest fires. Suitable for most sites and soils, remarkably wind tolerant.
[From Promethius proving]
The Sequoiadendron tree is a single species that was formerly associated with the Sequoia Sempervirens (Coast Redwood). The Sequoiadendron differs in that its foliage is entirely of branchlets with cords of scale leaves while the Sequoia has branches with fern shapes shoots with serried rows of hard, sharply pointed scale leaves with further side shoots. Other differences are that the Sequoia has a less compact aecrown‚ while the aecrown‚ of the Giant Sequoia is conical at the top, more dense and with a tendency to be more aeupswept‚ than its cousin. The Giant is slower to grow in its early stages. While the Coast Redwood boasts the tallest tree in the world ("Howard Libbey") at 112.4m., the Giant Sequoia is the longest lived at up to 3,400 years old. It can grow up to 100m and more and its girth is anything up to 27m. It is capable of growing outwards at the rate of 8 cm each year and upwards by 45 cm or more. The natural habitat of both trees is the Western seaboard of Canada and the United States at between 5000 and 8000 feet above sea level. The environment is particularly foggy and this has contributed to the trees longevity and its ability to continue growing and reproducing even into extreme old age. The moisture carried by the fog keeps the ground wet and reduces the loss of water from the leaves. In spite of its great size the tree blows down far less frequently than might be supposed. The bark is extremely tough and thick yet it is fibrous and can be torn off in shreds. Being up to 30 cm thick, the bark protects the tree from forest fire damage and the depredation of wild animals. The tree is also very acid which prevents the growth of fungi though these have been known to be the cause of death. Sequoiadendron are particularly susceptible to being struck by lightening. Unlike other conifer trees they have a marked ability to grow fresh trees from their stumps: have been known to produce several trees from the one stump. In 1853 the first examples were introduced into Europe. Though Redwoods and Giant Sequoia have colonised well, they do not fare so well in big cities. The cones take two years to ripen but they can remain on the tree for up to 20 years before they drop: in European examples the cones only stay on the branches for a few years.
Sycotic - affects the water balances of the body: excessive mucous production esp. in the lungs.
Rheumatic complaints.
Voracious appetite.
Sycotic / Psoric: exhaustion, heaviness and enervation with sense of inadequacy: oedema with sinking sensation.
Also has marked effect on the 5 senses - esp. vision.
Has opposite effects: can feel lightness of being: ethereal, delicate or heavy, earthbound, solid. Can be aloof and even apparently haughty as they are difficult to approach. Great patience: has the ability to wait for enormous lengths of time. (Oak) Has a great determination to succeed though not in any material sense - is more concerned with other values. Forever wants to improve on existing achievements. Indecisive. Has a sense that everything is slowed down, even that things are going along in slow motion - this can be the result of the remedy as well as a symptom. A sense of being old: expresses this with a feeling as if the oldness contributed to their sense of
separation from others. Senility. Can switch from one extreme to the other in these effects though in the mental / emotional sphere this is less obvious. Fleeting or wandering pains which are often constrictive or cramping. Parts can feel pressure - heart or lungs.
Right sided.
Periodicity: 2 year cycles or 9 year cycles: also seasonal changes with physical pathology.
Also reduces radiation poisoning.
Is useful in those who seldom become ill or in those whose illness does not curtail their creative energy and activity: who are very strong and gentle - "the gentle giant" type. A very important remedy for those who are growing fast: encourages strength of all tissues.

=======================================
Prometheus Journal -Sequoia gigantea
Psychic and esoteric: Heals all the chakras and every level of the aura. Particularly heals the heart and sacral centres. The energy of the remedy can stretch up beyond the Crown chakra in order to draw down into the subject that which needs to be known for spiritual development. (Can work well with Purple here.) Can help wishful thinking to become practical reality in the mental and spiritual sphere. Can restore faith in spiritual values and engender more overt expressions of compassion and love.

Sycotic - affects the water balances of the body: excessive mucous production esp. in the lungs. Rheumatic complaints. Voracious appetite. Sycotic/Psoric: exhaustion, heaviness and enervation with sense of inadequacy: oedema with sinking sensation. Also has marked effect on the 5 senses - esp. vision. Has opposite effects: can feel lightness of being: ethereal, delicate or heavy, earthbound, solid. Can switch from one extreme to the other in these effects though in the mental/emotional sphere this is less obvious. Fleeting or wandering pains which are often constrictive or cramping. Parts can feel pressure - heart or lungs. Right sided. Periodicity: 2 year cycles or 9 year cycles: also seasonal changes with physical pathology. Detoxifies the system by helping to control the water balances. Also reduces radiation poisoning. Is useful in those who seldom become ill or in those whose illness does not curtail their creative energy and activity: who are very strong and gentle - "the gentle giant" type. A very important remedy for those who are growing fast: encourages strength of all tissues. (Can also be used for mental and spiritual development when new pathways are being explored but are leading to confusion.) There is a curious quality that can be perceived in the patient that what is not yet revealed is more important than what is obvious or on the surface: can be used when superficial symptom pictures do not add up to much or to a variety of remedies and when no miasm is obviously a block to healing. (The remedy tends to "illuminate" what has not yet been treated - because it was hidden - but is nevertheless vital to the progress of treatment.) Can be used when other remedies seem to fail to complete their action. (This is particularly true in those who have taken Sulphur and/or Oak but have not derived as much benefit as they might.) Useful in cases of high blood pressure as it tends to encourage the general metabolism to slow down - can be given in high potencies alongside other remedies that are more specific to reducing B/P levels such as Spartium.

The main keynote to the remedy is naivete. With the general strength of the remedy goes a state of child-like innocence and gentleness. For those who suffer but who do not know why they suffer: the heart is open and vulnerable and there is no comprehension as to why this should be abused by others.
Grief from past occurrences which have not been resolved due to misapprehension of other peoples' intentions. Sadness, loneliness and emptiness. Sadness felt in the solar plexus. Heaviness and solidity which make the patient feel as if "cast in stone" (affinity with Granite). The remedy encourages the patient to see events in a different light while still maintaining an open heart centre. Can be given safely to babies still in the womb who are suffering from foetal distress esp. if this is of emotional origin - parental difficulties that are registered by the foetus. Where lack of comprehension leads to a desire to "give up the struggle". A sense of futility. Strong desire to go to sleep. Sense of confusion: difficult to finish sentences or the task in hand. "Can't be bothered" attitude. Vague and absent minded. Feels things strongly but is unable to describe them or to understand them. Trusts in the beauty of the world in a child-like way but is aware of a sense of insecurity. Unable to detect sarcasm. Can be impish and mischievous but in a teasing manner rather than from a negative motive. Has great compassion for others in spite of own suffering. Empathises strongly with others - even inappropriately. Strongly attached to children or has a childish attitude. Can feel a sense of separation and as if "cut off". (Thuja) Seldom angered even when this would be expected. Mute - even in rage. Tends to grow away from those who cause emotional hurt but without expressing anything. Becomes averse to certain company. Develops a complex about people: feels that he/she is not cared for any more by someone close but cannot think of any reason why this should be. Prefers not to think of emotional things too deeply: distrustful of their ability to handle emotional issues. (Can be confused with Puls.) Can be aloof and even apparently haughty as they are difficult to approach. A sense of being old: expresses this with a feeling as if the oldness contributed to their sense of separation from others. Senility.

Vertigo - a sense of turning in a circular motion esp. while standing. Has a need to stand or sit with something to support the back. Splitting pain in the middle of brain which seems to separate the occipital area from the frontal. One of the main remedies for poor Pituitary function. (Works well with Anterior Pituitary in Asthma.) Acromegaly. Developmental learning difficulties.

Misty vision: blurred. Light sparks before eyes. Dimmed vision with emotional blockage of years' standing. Pains (fleeting) in the right eye. Perfect sight: long-sightedness.

Buzzing. Hollow or full sensations (with pain). History of ear infections.

Catarrh. Worse wet weather.

Wears an innocent expression. Can also be weather-beaten.

Dryness with a sour taste of lemons. (When the leaves of the tree are crushed or rubbed there is a strong smell of aniseed.)

History of septic throats. Nausea in the throat pit with anxiety felt in the solar plexus.

Anxiety. Feels water-logged. Heaviness esp. after heavy meal. Thirstless.

Unexpressed emotions tend to cause liver and gall bladder problems. Bitter risings in the throat. Sinking in abdomen worse after a meal. Digestion worse oily food. Acid digestion.

Dried and crumbly stools with constipation or shredded, fibrous stools with burning sensations.

Retention of urine or desire to go almost straight after having been. Split stream esp. with prostate problems.

Lack of libido. Strengthens erections for the impotent.

Period pains: sudden onset: felt in rectum and down the back of the thighs to knees. Heavy flow. Fibroids. Poor lactation: improves the flow of milk - this is often the remedy for this problem when there is difficulty in bonding between mother and child.

Asthma: Sycotic in origin. Oppressed breathing with desire to take deep breaths. In-breaths are more difficult than out-breaths. Also feels as if there is an enormous capacity to take air into the lungs but this causes "headiness". Hyperventilation. The more air he takes in the more air he wants. Better steam inhalations or breathing into a paper bag for a short time. Very affected by Ventolin and steroids.

Coughs up thick mucous. Tightness in diaphragm that causes the patient to want to expand chest and take deep breaths as this is an exercise in stretching. Draws shoulders back (rather than up) in taking deep breaths. Palpitations. Oppressed heart from grief. Bradycardia and Tachycardia. Useful after strokes esp. when the patient's nervous system is left affected.

Inability to sit up straight. Needs spinal support.
Pains felt in the cervical, dorsal and lumbar regions that shift about. Drilling pain in the right trapezius muscle where it leads into the Cervical area. Desire to stretch upwards esp. on waking in the morning or after sitting for any length of time.

Insomniacs. Dreams of: astral travel: of ancient civilisations: of transmutation where the dreamer becomes something other than they really are: of enlightenment. Also dreams that seem real on waking and that remind one that something that should have been done has not yet been done. Wakeful from difficult breathing.

Default RE: sequoia remedies

some years ago I did a blind proving of an essence of petrified sequoia. One of the main symptoms I recall which was produced was that seeing orange-red colours made me VERY aggressive (wanting to curse and swear, wanting to hit somebody).

There has been a German contact proving by Karl-Josef Müller, but I don't have the text so can't comment on it.

Best,

Gaby
