Homeopaths Without Frontiers
Homeopaths without Frontiers is an international federation with several
national sections in Europe, Africa and Latin America. Our main activities
are training in homeopathy, humanitarian aid and research. The federation
was established in France in 1984.
Due to the urgency of allowing more patients access to reliable health
care, we have developed an easy-to-transfer-system of education in
homeopathy, combining in-depth study of materia medica with
ready-to-prescribe modules in diseases as diarrhea, fever, cholera,
traumas, suppurations and pediatric poblems.
The French section has concentrated at African, French-speaking countries
as Togo, Benin and Madagascar, while the Spanish worked together with the
French in Peru in cholera epidemics.
The Dutch section works at the moment in Ghana, where an extensive training
programme runs both in an academic hospital as well as a rural clinic. Two
to three periods of a week per year doctors, nurses and midwives are
trained. After two years the programme will be completed, and supervision
visits will be made from the Netherlands. The in-depth-study is achieved by
using a unique way of clarifying the mass of symptoms by defining clearly
and simply the main actions of a remedy in the human organism. This is
combined with the known pathophysiology and leads to the Rred threadS, the
most peculiar symptoms of that remedy. These red threads are compared for a
differential diagnosis when a patient with a certain disease presents. Also
a 'question strategy' is taught in order to train the experienced doctor or
nurse to perceive the relevant homeopathic symptoms.
This problem-oriented method enables them to start working after the first
week, thus stimulating their motivation, to incorporate homeopathy into
their busy daily work. The results are interesting: the Ghana Ministry of
Health will register only doctors as homeopaths if they have followed our
programme; almost eighty follow our programme now. The next step will be
the establishment of a Ghana section of Homeopaths without Frontiers, as is
done in other countries as well.
Research on malaria in Ghana has shown the effect of individualized
prescribing compared with chloroquine in a double blind study, using the
'double dummy' method. Larger group studie are planned, in combination with
the research group in the USA of J Jacobs, as well as replications of their
diarrhea studies.
In western countries, homeopathic education does not always meet the needs
for acute prescribing of the patients. This way of studying and teaching
materia medica and differential diagnosis may prove a useful addition to
the existing methods used for treatment of chronic disease, especially for
general practitioners and medical specialists.

Sheri, will be glad to send a donation on behalf of BIH USA when you do
find some homeopathic organization that is willing to be on the front
lines to help.

I also have lots and lots of LM medicating potencies I can contribute to
the cause.

Perhaps we can set up an email support network, so if we cannot be on the
front lines with emergency care, At least if there are some homeopaths
willing to be on 'email call' we might be able to offer some kind of
support to those on the front lines, even if it is only someone to talk
things over with, to run questions by, or to do some research or
repertorization if needed. etc.

I do hope the NCH will jump in, and I'd just bet that many of our BIH
students would love to get involved in helping, even if only in a small
way.

Let us know what we can do. I would like some assurance that our help
does go where it is needed and is just not lost in the confusion.
