Default Rubric help - bleeding after (!) menopause

Hi all,

A 54 year old patient who's menstruation stopped 4 years ago, started to have some slight bleeding of a rather pink color.

After 4 years without any menstruation I think the menopause has been finished for a long time, but I couldn't find a rubric which would cover this.

The rubrics I found are
Generals - Hemorrhage - menopause; in
Generals - Hemorrhage - slight hemorrhage
Female Genitalia/Sex - Metrorrhagia - women - old; in

Now maybe my english is not so good, but as far as I know metrorrhagia means quite a heavy bleeding, which is not her case.

Any other suggestions for me?

I am not trying to find her remedy through this rubric only, I gave her sepia anyhow for many other symptoms, but I found it puzzling not to find a rubric which I felt would really suit the case.

Thanks in advance

Hi

here are some I found that may be of interest to you.
I don't believe that metrorrhagia needs to be a big flow, just a flow that is not associated with menstruation.
Another question is, when is the climacteric over?

RU

FEMALE - PHENOMENA - METRORRHAGIA - climacteric period - after
FEMALE - PHENOMENA - METRORRHAGIA - climacteric period - during
FEMALE - PHENOMENA - ATONY of uterus, inertia uteri - metrorrhagia, in
FEMALE - PHENOMENA - METRORRHAGIA - old women, in
FEMALE - PHENOMENA - METRORRHAGIA - continuous - little
FEMALE - PHENOMENA - METRORRHAGIA - serous mucus

Synthesis

The cross references for the <oozing> rubric included atonic, passive and seeping.

FEMALE GENITALIA/SEX - METRORRHAGIA - oozing
FEMALE GENITALIA/SEX - METRORRHAGIA - pale
FEMALE GENITALIA/SEX - METRORRHAGIA - coagulated - mixed with - pale watery
blood
FEMALE GENITALIA/SEX - MENSES - return - ceased; after the regular menstrual cycle has
FEMALE GENITALIA/SEX - METRORRHAGIA - menopause - during
FEMALE GENITALIA/SEX - METRORRHAGIA - thin blood
FEMALE GENITALIA/SEX - METRORRHAGIA - watery

Best,
Robyn

metrorrhagia means uterine hemorrage in my dictionary (Dorlands). But in Yasgur, he says, irregular acyclic bleeding from the uterus. Profuse flow of blood from the uterus at any time other than that of the menstrual period.

metrotaxis means slow loss of blood from the uterus

I've wondered the same thing everytime I have to find the rubric for bleeding outside of period. It just doesn't seem to match to small amounts of blood.

Anyone else?

That's the rubric I was taught to use for *any* bleeding between cycles. Also, note the rubrics re "hemorrhage" from the gums. There are lots of remedies there, yet it's hard to imagine a massive flow of blood from the gums! Maybe this is a word whose common meaning has changed?

Yes, that was the first thing I told her to do, especially as she has a lot of cancer in the family.

It is possible that others have already answered this - this is not metrorrhagia

I would start with Female, bleeding, menopause, after - and there are a good number of rx to begin with in this rubric.

Best, Joy

Hi Sheri,
I think you would be aware that when there is "Dysfunctional Uterine bleeding" (ie. DUB - which I think you mean above) it is ususally related to hormonal imbalances and infertile cycles (anovulatory cycles). this is due to various factors including thyroid disorders, PCOS, pituitary malfunction, etc.
The only instance when there is midcycle bleeding in a fertile cycles is at ovulation. That timing is clearly observable.

So the best thing to do with intermittent bleeding is the Metrorrhagia rubric associated with the possible cause or characteristic modality.

Otherwise it may be non uterine as from the cervix or cervical polyps.
FEMALE; HEMORRHAGE; Cervix, easily: aln., alum., arg., arg-n., carb-an., cub., dict., hydr., hydrc., kali-bi., murx., nit-ac., sul-ac., ust.

Othrwise here are a few rubrics not mentioned earlier:

FEMALE; METRORRHAGIA; General; between the menstrual periods (K729, G621) (Leucorrhea; bright red): ambr., arn., bell., bov., bry., Calc., calc-sil., canth., carb-v., Cham., chin., cimic., cocc., coff., croc., elaps, ferr., guare., ham., hep., hydr., Ip., kali-c., kali-sil., lach., lyc., mag-c., mag-s., mang., merc., murx., nit-ac., nux-v., Phos., puls., Rhus-t., Sabin., sec., sep., Sil., stram., sulph., zinc.

FEMALE; METRORRHAGIA; scanty (SIII-593): carb-v., caul., cinnam., coc-c., cocc., lyss., nux-v., phos., pitu-a., thuj., ust.

regards,
leela
