Default peculiar tongue picture

dear colleagues,

I have a case with a very peculiar tongue picture and I feel this must be included in the case study.

the patient has a slight white coating of the tongue and there is a clean red band (about 1.25 cms wide) from the back of the tongue to the front. this central band is clean and red and outside is white coating (slight). the margins of the central red band are very clear and appear as if two straight lines have been drawn with a ruler.
the patient says that the tongue remains that way, throughout the day and I have confirmed this tongue picture - by examining on 2 occasions, 1 week apart.

any idea, which remedy shows this peculiar tongue ?

I tried to repertorize this tongue rubric in synthesis and RU using radar.
I also tried to use the vakil module.
however, I have started using radar only a few days back and I could not locate this. any help to repertorize this rubric and/or directions if that was found in radar / syn/RU will be highly appreciated.

regards

Odd you should mention this today. I just returned from a seminar with Dr. Ramikrishnan where this very description was given. When the center 'stripe' is red and the sides 'coated' - it is aconite - whereas when the center 'stripe' is coated and the sides are bright red - it is veratrum virde.

Hope this helps.

Dear manish

here are three rubrics from Synthesis that may help

MOUTH - DISCOLORATION - Tongue - white - accompanied by - Centre - red - stripe down centre; red
MOUTH - DISCOLORATION - Tongue - red - stripes - Down centre; stripe
MOUTH - DISCOLORATION - Tongue - red - stripes

the Vakhil module lists 19 for a red stripe, however there are more in the rubrics above

I guess that the symptoms accompanying the tongue picture will lead to the rem.

I hope you enjoy Synthesis RU, as I do

Best

Robyn

I saw this just yesterday - Clarke's Dictionary of Practical Materia Medica

Malandrinum -
8. Mouth.?Tongue: coated yellow, with red streak down middle (typhoid); cracked and ulcerating down middle; swollen.

Hope this helps,

dear donna,
thanks for the info. however, the reps and mms mentions verat. vir. as having a red central streak and not as you suggested.

dear robyn,
thanks for your post and the directions to find the rubrics in radar / vakil module. I am used to the consulting the reps as a book and I am learning to use radar. vakil module is great. you have helped me with the mm and reps - even earlier. I sincerely thank you for all your help.

dear all,
the tongue that I described....I found that what I saw was a classical causticum tongue.
