'Quack' degrees will damage our university say academics

Degrees in homoeopathy and herbalism could be scrapped after
academics branded them quackery and said they would damage their
universitys reputation. In an open letter to the vice-chancellor
of the University of Central Lancashire UCLan, academics said
courses such as acupuncture contain a roll-call of quackery and
damage the institutions hopes of being taken seriously.

TGA tightens up on homeopathic remedies

The TGA has released details of a proposed new regulation
framework for homeopathic remedies, with major changes envisaged
for the way remedies are registered and promoted. In a
consultation document released this week on the TGA website, the
agency says new regulations will contain several significant
changes, including a new requirement for all homeopathic
remedies to be part of the official register of therapeutic
goods regardless of the final concentration of the ingredients.

University of Central Lancashire homeopathy degree suspended after criticism

The undergraduate degree in homeopathic medicine at the
University of Central Lancashire has stopped recruiting new
students after "relentless attacks from the anti-homeopathy
league".

The country’s first Homeopathy Hospital

Sri Lankas first Homeopathy Hospital will be declared open at
Welisary today. The hospital is situated at Shelton Jayasinghe
Mawatha. Before this it operated only as a homeopathy treatment
centre. The ministry of indigenous medicine says the centre has
been upgraded to provide resident treatment.

Naturopaths achieve official recognition

Naturopathic doctors are now legally recognized in Nova Scotia.
This move will protect people in this province from untrained
practitioners, says Dr. Jyl Bishop Veale of Wolfville. The
co-president of the provincial professional association, Bishop
Veale says legislation proclaimed last month makes this the
first province in Atlantic Canada and sixth in Canada to
legislate the practice of naturopathic medicine.
