Hi,

I just came across this site, I think it's really great!!!!
I have been suffering from anxiety for the last few years. I'm 29 years old, female, divorced mother of one. I have excessive sweating, a feeling of nervousness & heart races. I have read that Kava Kava is now being used to treat anxiety. Would you recommend this?
I will be seeing a homeopathy doctor on Wednesday for the 1st time. Is this what she will most likely prescribe?

Dear Miko,
Welcome! Homeopathy treats people based on THEIR individual symptoms (based on their physical, mental and emotional state)....we never say that one remedy will treat a certain disease - so, be prepared to shift your approach in perspective - to better understand how it works.

You Homeopath will likely ask for a complete history, and may want to know things that might make you scratch your head in confusion, at first - but, just go with the flow, and understand that the approach to findng the correct remedy for you is based on what I said above....and also, perhaps you could get a good book on Homeopathy to gain a basic overview of how it works.

You could also post your history here, and the Homeopaths that visit regularly, will give their advice. Have a look at some of the other posts to get an idea of the type of information needed in order to prescribe a remedy for you as an idividual.
Good luck, Lisa

Life History
Childhood:
great parents,ok childhood, social butterfly, yet nervous nature(butterflies in stomach a lot),lived in Britain till 11 yrs old, moved to Canada-lost all friends, didn't make new ones easily.moved several times-continued to lose friends and tried to make new ones.not easy.
Adolescence:
extremely shy, blushing problem, never participated in school or activities, just wanted to disappear, lonely, only a few good friends, very popular with the boys, steady boyfriends from 11yrs old til I got married at 22 yrs old. miscarriage @ 16 yrs old, pregnant again @ 18 yrs, gave baby up for adoption, fell into deep depression for 2 years, did not get help(too scared, they would lock me away),hearing voices, paranoia, unbelievable amount of guilt, never forgive myself, still suffer from guilt to this day, always will.
Marriage:
started out ok,ex-husband not very affectionate or compassionate, didn't get the love that I needed.Had daughter shortly after we married, but lost respect and all interest in husband, slept in daughters bed for 2 years before we left him.
Life now:
great job but very stressful, dealing with VIP clients all day, recently engaged, very social at work, but very anxious while doing this, only a few friends outside work, sweat excessively all day most days, use anti-perspirant(extra) as I smell very strongly, feel nervous a lot, seems to be triggered by driving,if I think I might be late for work, heart races and sweat majorly.
never had any kind of help, have cancelled every appt,I've ever made.never taken any medications for this, have no allergies,am taking Alesse BC pill, always thirsty, never remember my dreams,am very tired and irritable 2 weeks out of the month, neck & back feel achy, knee joints are very stiff, take multi-vitamins most of the time,,social drinker, smoker, drink 2 cups coffee/day, drink 2L water/day,just started yoga, cry about small things a lot whether happy or sad & easily upset.

Do you think that my past is the cause of this?
Wow, I feel like I have just beared my soul, it doesn't feel good.
Looking forward to your replies.

Dear Miko,
That is a good start! I am not a qualified Homeopath (yet), so I will not even attempt to prescribe - so, please be patient and I'm sure one of the excellent prescribers that visit here often, will help you!

I do know that you will be told that it is important to GET OFF THE BIRTH CONTROL PILLS!!! They cause ALL SORTS OF PROBLEMS!! And they can hinder your progress in obtaining the healthy balance you are seeking. Your choice -and not always an easy one...but there are other methods that are very effective and you will become very tuned in to your body's rhythms.....

The other thing!! Stop the anti-persprirants!!! Two reasons:
ONE: It suppresses normal bodily function(sweat) and this is the body's way of ridding itself of toxins everyday. Continued suppression (especially in the armpits!!!!!! can't stress this part enough) will make you sick in one way or another. You might try a natural alternative - just make sure it is not heavily laden with perfumes, etc. Also, the reason you are smelling soooo bad, is a sign that you have toxins trying to come out. This can be from diet - and many other things. Once your system is clear - it will lessen - but remember that what you eat has an affect on how you smell.

TWO: they contain Aluminum - and this is being applied to an area that is supposed to be ridding your body of toxins - not absorbing metals....

Hope this helps, thus far -and just wait and you'll get some great advice here, I'm sure.
Take care, and good luck..Lisa

What Lisa said about Birth Control and others will too... seems correct. I just started on a Homeopathic Remedy, but was asked to STOP the birth control BEFORE I took the remedy. I did...and immediately I started feeling better all over. JUST from stopping the birth control.
good luck

Miko,
Hello, are you looking for a prescription from the BB or are you wishing to go through with your appointment on Wednesday?
Since you say you have never kept an appointment of this kind, perhaps it is too much for you to say these things face to face...?
If you do want help, given the personal nature of aspects of your case, you may prefer to contact one of the homoeopaths directly by email, since it does not feel good to bare your soul. If you are OK about answering further questions on the board, then maybe we can help like that.
If you want to try the board, then you could start by giving some information about your physical symptoms. I note that it is your mental and emotional symptoms which you want to address, but homoeopaths need a full picture of you on which to prescribe.
Here are some questions to get you thinking..

What are your food preferences and strong dislikes? Any cravings?
Are you very thirsty - if so for what kind of drinks?
Ever had any warts?
Does anything make you feel better -eg working, exercise, sleeping, bathing etc?
What were your childhood fears (you may still have some) eg. heights, thunder, snakes, insects, spiders, dark, ghosts, to name but a few possiblities...
Any recurrent dreams?
If you feel able you might also say something about the kind of paranoia you experienced - what the voices were saying etc. But please don't do so unless you feel comfortable to do so. Also, you can always delete or edit your post if you regret having revealed something.

Your past sounds difficult and no one is likely to have come out from it without some scars. We need to look at how it has affected you as an individual to see how to set you to rights.

Please discontinue the Pill, but only when you are confident that you have sorted out some other form of safe and effective contraception. Look into barrier methods and monitoring your cycle. If you are in the UK you can get free expert advice at a family planning clinic - although they won't have the "alternative" angle probably - unless you are fortunate to live in Oxford!
Kind regards, Anna

Thank you for all your replies!
Food preferences:
don't eat meat, eat tons of veggies, pasta, fish sometimes, cheese, bread, eat pretty healthy, don't eat hardly any fruit or fast food or processed food, make most things things from scratch, crave chocolate once a month it seems, crave coke(pop),crave chips or salty foods, always thirsty always have a drink of some kind, usually water
Childhood Fears:
hated spiders & most bugs, hated the dark, hated the basement, scared someone was hiding under my bed, thought dolls were watching me,my mom had turn them all to face the wall
current fears:
hate spiders & all bugs, still hate the dark sleep with night light, weary of men I don't know if I'm walking alone think they are going to hurt me I don't trust anyone, hate sleeping with my bedroom door open

I did have warts when I was young from maybe 10 to 12 yrs old on my hands and feet

I started yoga, this seems to help, also taking baths and going for walks, drinking cammomile when having anxiety attacks helps a lot

I rarely remember my dreams, only when I'm very relaxed,no recurrent dreams, hardly ever feel well rested when I wake up.

The paranoia that I experienced was that people where trying to kill me or that they were following me,they were going to get me and hurt me.
The voices that I heard sounded like satan,or how satan has been portrayed to sound, just mumbled words yelling, backwards maybe, would always happen if I was alone and if there was a constant sound like a hairdryer, this was many years ago I seemed to have helped myself out of this.I haven't experienced this for the last 9 years.
Hope this information helps.
Miko

Do you have many moles on your skin? Any actual panic attacks? Do you prefer salty/sweet/sour/ bitter tastes?
