A bit of advice please - my niece is getting regular infestations and is being treated regularly with natural oils etc. I think it's about time she tried homeopathy but I'm not 100% sure of the remedy. I think it's Staphysagria, am I right? If so what potency and frequency please?

Thank you in advance

The remedy she needs will be her constitutional remedy and that can only be found by seeing a professional classical homeopath who will take a full case history and find a remedy for her as an individual rather than a disease name.
The best was I know of eradicating the little pests is by combing them out every couple of days after putting hair conditioner on. The lice can't hang on when you comb them out. As the eggs hatch every couple of days you need to do this for 2 or 3 weeks. Lavender oil is meant to protect and there is also a natural preparationcalled "Nit Nurse" obtainable from Helios which may or may not be what she is using now.

Good luck!

Thumbs up

you can try natrum muriaticum 12 x (3 tabs 4 times )daily for a period of two weeks. staphisagria q (mother tincture) 10 ml in 100 ml of coconut oil is also helpful when you are giving staphysagria in potency internally.

If a tempestuous little minx, she may need Tub. Take her to a homoeopath.

As has already been pointed out a constitutional remedy is required. I wanted to caution against the use of the topical applications available from chemists. The experience here is that the headlice are resistant to the chemicals whilst the child certainly isn't. A common practice used by some of the school nurses as well is vodka. Yes vodka applied locally and then combed through. This will need to be repeated after a few days to catch any that slip through the first time. Check regularly afterwards with the nitcomb. Please note that the use of essential oils can interfere with the action of remedies.

THANK YOU to everybody who replied. Although I know my sister in law doesn't use the chemical based "cures", she seems to constantly be using something on my niece's hair! With the recurring problem, homeopathy would I feel be the answer....but I know you can lead a horse to water and all that! I will let her know of our discussion.

Thanks again!

There are also some electronic combs which zap the little bugs. As you are in the UK you might want to try Boots or ARGOS.

We (self and son) had an infestation last spring (my first experience at the age of 37!!). I managed to de-bug myself using the conditioner method and the electronic comb in about a week.

Didn't have anyone able to do my hair regularly - so I can vouch for how effective these methods are.

Enlighten me oh gifted ones
