I am about to get a full porcelain cap on the upper left hand side. But yesterday when my dentist was taking the temp off I was having pain. She put a temp cap on and is waiting one week to make sure that I will not a flare up. She DOES NOT want to do a root canal due to the fact that the tooth is located sooooo far back that she had a hard time just working on it to begin with and I do not want a root canal because I AM A BIG CHICKEN AND DO NOT LIKE DENTAL PAIN...OK? So, is there anything I can do or take to help the area heal so that this will not be necessary? Please reply quickly since I only have till tues to try and remedy this.

Thank you in advance for any and all suggestions

Hi Bro,
I understand you completely, I fall in the "big chicken" category too when it comes to dentists!!!

If the pain is "as if a nerve was exposed", I would go with good old Hypericum, usually one dose of 200k does the trick for me.
Hypericum is also the remedy for injuries to teeth after dental work, works on the pain side of the story too.

If a lot has been going on in you mouth and gums need to heal, rince with a solution of Calendula TM in water ( about 15 drops in a little water) helps healing of injuries.

And of course:
Chickening out at the dentist...
Gelsemium, Argentum nitricum, Ignatia...

Hope all goes well for you
Marie

Bleeesssss! I'm the BIGGEST chicken---- at the Dentist! I get off the chair - and it is soaked from sweat!! I asked for gas and air - which they provide in the states - BUT NOT OVERSEASSSSSSSSS ! I'd rather give birth again! !!

I only say to you - breathe...that is what I have to do here....with no gas and air to help me ! And, of course, take the remedies that Marie recommended...I remember reading about Hypericum being good for having had teeth worked on!

Take care - and good luck!! Lisa

bro, my own dental confession is that I haven't been for ten years.
Tell me what is a 'root canal' and why might you need one?
Hypericum is for nerve pain where the pain shoots upwards and inwards.
What kind of pain are you experiencing and what is the history of it.
Do you know your constitutional remedy?
If you do, that is, by definition, usually the best remedy to take in an acute, including this type of trouble.

Bro, if you live in New York City, there is a dentist, Dr. Richter, who has a radio show 1050 WOR, Monday morning, 11:00am. He is an alternative style dentist, uses homeopathy, you can call in his show and ask ques. I believe he also gives free second opinion consultations.

Sometimes if the crown is too high and throws the bite off it hurts. They sand it down or something like that.

I have had my first root canal at age 12, it was a real textbook case and a picture of my tooth appears in the book. sometimes when I go to a new dentist who is old enough to have used that book they actually can identify my tooth!

One dentist who knows how nerverous I am suggested that I wink the eye on the side being worked real tight when it hurt and the pain would be less. It does help.

I now have about four root canals
. I want no more. I have only just discovered homeopathy. I have only just begun to fight! Ooodles of Toodles, Best wishes, Mselle

Hi all of you,
Well, here is the MM of Hypericum, it is a remedy of many uses...
HYPERICUM PRFORATUM
Murphy's Fundementals of Materia Medica

For neuritis - inflammation of the nerves. You think of Hyper. for any nerve injury or inflammation of the nerves. This is St-John's wort. If the leaves are injured, the plant puts out a reddish-brown juice. The ancient people used to hang it in their house to ward off evil. It has a big affinity for the nervous system, for any nerve ending injury. The area is rich in nerves; the ends of fingers, the spinal cord, the neck, the tail bone. The classic pains are sharp shooting, radiating pains. It is very specific. Any type of an injury and there are sharp, shooting, radiating pains. Someone lifted something and ever since then, they have had sharp, shooting pains with sciatica. For whiplash and every now and then they get a sharp shooting pain down their neck. It is also very specific for falls on the spine and it may lead to epilepsy or depression or anything.

It is also very specific for animal bites or scraatches. Hypericum and Ledum are very close. Ledum has the achiness, Hypericum has the sharp pains. A person is bitten by a dog and you would give them Ledum or Hypericum right then to prevent rabies. Hypericum is also used for puncture wounds. For children who get spinal taps and they have post spinal tap meningitis.

For any needles. Now we see Hypericum is vor vaccinations. A child gets vaccinated, so now we see a puncture wound with a foreign substance in it. Also for bites and wounds from animal bites that may be septic. For someone who has been to the chiropractor and ever since they were adjusted they have shooting pains. For trauma of a pinched nerve with needle-like pains that shoot from the area.

For old scars that flare up. Someone steps ona nail and they start getting sharp, shooting pains in their leg. If Hypericum doesn't work then immediately give Ledum or else take them to the hospital if these don't work. This is very serious and they can get lockjaw.

For stinging, burning numbness since injury. Someone hurts their neck and they have numbness and tingling there.

It's also a remedy for epilepsy after injury to the spinal cord. Paralysis from a nerve injury could also be Hypericum.

For dental work and trauma due to this type of work, give Hypericum . Someone has had headaches, nerve pain. For puncture wounds adn nerve damage. For toothaaches after drilling and root canal. A lot of times you should give Arnica or Hypericum routinely after dental work. Even though you don't feel the pain, there is still trauma.

For mashed fingers, splinters, bee stings, amputations and there is nerve pain aftrwards. Allium Cepa is also used for formication of the limb; for digging, stinging pain as if ants are crawling around. Usually you would think of Hypericum first. Arnica would be given first for the shock.

It is useful for cuts and puncture wounds.
Hypericum has a strong affinity for the NERVOUS SYSTEM
NEURITIS - injuries especially to the aareas rich in NERVES.

The remedy for DEPRESSION since AFTER INJURY
NATRUM SULPHURICUM also causes personality changes after an injury

The remedy for PUNCTURE WOUNDS AND LACERATIONS. For puncture wounds Hypericum could be used both externally and/or internally.
STEPPING ON A NAIL - SHARP PAIN, use Hypericum . But if there is much BLUE AND ACHING, then use LEDUM.
LOCK-JAW and TETANUS use Hypericum .
Any person feeling worse since a Tetanus shot, give him Hypericum or Ledum.
Also the remedy for BITE INJURIES, both ANIMAL OR INSECT (give Ledum first, then Hypericum .
INJURY TO THE SPINE - HYPERICUM, ARNICA AND RHUS TOX.
The remedy especially for the TAIL BONE especially for pain since AFTER CHILDBIRTH OR LABOR OR A FALL INJURY.

Dear Lisa,
As I said before, I don't mind the typing because it gives me the chance to read these remedies again.

As for a copy of the book...I prefer typing, this way, everybody gets to benefit from it and that's the whole idea behind the postings.

If there are remedies that you would like to hear from, just drop me a line here on the BB and I will start with those. This goes to anybody else who is interested.

Bye for now,
marie

Well thank you for the book Maria.... just kidding (Had to rib on the lenght ya know)But just to let you know I am hope now that Hypericum will maybe help me in two area's. About 3 years ago I had 3 impacted wisdom teeth removed. When they removed the one on the bottom right hand side they did nerve damage. Now I have numbness on the inner side on the bottom and the outer edge of the same side of my tongue is also number (or accually it has distored sensation) So I am hoping that maybe this remedy will help with that. We shall see.

Now Anna, root canal is when they drill you tooth and inside is a nerve or two or three is some cases four. What they then do is remove the nerves and clean out the "canal" with these very very small file like instruments. They then fill the tooth and then cap it. The tooth is now dead. And you will have no feeling from that tooth itself. As far as why I need one or someone else, I will ask my dentist on tuesday when I see her and then I will write a medical explanation as to why. The history behind "my" tooth is it had a very deep and old filling in it. There was much of the original tooth left. Then I got some more decay in it and she had to remove the filling and the decay and once that was done I didnt have enough of a tooth left. but in doing this it also cause much pain in the tooth and the nerve. So she is hoping that the tooth and nerve do not flare up. I will write you more tuesday or wednesday after I have seen her. Wish me luck
