My first birth was medically induced and I still have nightmares about the pictocin contractions against my closed cervix. This time I would like to help nature in a more human way (planned a homebirth!) and have been recommended Caulophyllum 30 x2 weekly from the 36th week. I have also been drinking raspberryleaf tea from early on. Will the Caulophyllum help to dilate and effacate the cervix as well or only tone the uterus to enable stronger contractions (remember my nightmare?!)? Any suggestions on the subject would be much appreciated!

I have four children all given homeopathy
during childbirth. My last born was a boy
in Sept 1996. I posted up at that time a fairly detailed account of it in the Lyghtforce homeopathy list. You can probably get it from the archives. It has some useful info on the event and its homeopathic management.

Caulophyllum is best used in the last few days before labour and during the event itself to strengthen weak contractions and speed up the opening of the cervix. see Richard Moskovitz book on this subject also.

I also highly recommend Moskowitz's book, "Homeopathic Medicines for Pregnancy and Childbirth" and I also learned a lot from the book, "Natural Healing for the Pregnant Woman"by Elizabeth Burch. Good Luck! Brenda

This may not be considered homeopathy but nipple stimulation is supposed to help indude labour

I took Caul. once I was overdue with my second child. I had been induced with my first but natural labour did start during the induction.

The effect of the Caul. was to produce mild contractions for a while and then they wore off. I took the remedy every 2 days and on the 10th day overdue natural labour started.

I bought a kit of commonly used remedies for childbirth from my homoeopath and took one when at 8cms I was not progressing, felt stuck, anxious and suffering from pains in my rectum. I referred to the notes with the kit, took Cimic and with the next (huge) contraction my daughter's head was crowning.

Out she popped, no stitches for me and a 9lb 6oz bouncing baby. Lovely birthing pool too !

Best of luck !

My pregnancies always ended with my water breaking four weeks early. However I would not go into labor naturally. With my last child I was seeing a homeopath, and he had me take Puls 200 to induce labor. I had to repeat it frequently, and use nipple stimulation, which causes the release of natural pitocin. It worked!

Hi there,
My first daughter was born 16 years ago - a very hi-tech birth and it was pretty awful. 5 years late i decided to take on the rsponsibility for the birth myself. I arranged for my homoeopath to be present at the labour and birth (hospital birth). When I was 40 weeks +5 days I decided I had had enough of the pregnancy. So I introduced the old fashioned method of getting labour started - 4oz of caster oil mixed with orange juice. Within 2 hours gentle labour had begun and continued over the next 6 hours becoming 'nicely' stronger. Labour then slowed down -my homoeopath administered Puls 200 and labour was re-established. Elizabeth was born several hours later - using no drugs or even gas and air!!! The homoepath gave me the occasional remedy. This from someone who has to be knocked out when having dental fillings!! Yes, homoeopathy is superb in childbirth. I am now a practitioner and have helped 3 mums have a good birth using homoeopathy. Good luck to you, Jayne.

I am now 5 days overdue with my second child. I was 10 days overdue with my first child and this time, I really do not want to wait that long. My husband (not the father of my first) is beyond anxious and driving me crazy! So is my daughter..wants to know when that baby brother of hers is coming out. Have done the nipple thing, semen thing, tried castor oil...just 1 oz on the recommendation of my OBGYN and I wound up sitting on the toilet with diarreha (sp?). I have been reading and have seen a few woman have tried Caulophyllum and that seemed to have worked. I have never heard of Caulophyllum would someone be so kind as to explain to me what it is and where it can be purchased if it can be purchased? Thank you ever so much!

Nipple stimulation does work - and it helps to toughen the nipples as you probably know already - for breastfeeding..

Might I also say - at the risk of anyone's face turning red - orgasm's work as well....if you have the energy...and they bring on very strong contractions!! Good luck

Caulophyllum 200C is a homeopathic remedy and is best used under the advice of a professional homeopath where you live who can follow up on the results of you taking it.
