My son who is almost 5 has fluid in his ears and has failed every hearing test he has had. His speach is perfect so I am not particularly worried except he starts school in three weeks and I am concerned that if he can't hear properly, he won't be able to learn. He often says to me that I have said a word funny when I haven't so he is obviously not hearing me correctly. He talks loudly and has TV turned up loud.

He had lots of ear infections as a baby and I went to a homeopath who gave him a rememdy which only worked after seeing a cranial Osteopath, after that he never had another infection. (He had a hard time being born and was jammed in my pelvis. He was finally delivered by caeser and had a cone shaped head. His skull was pressing on his eustation tube, after being manipulated he was much better). I know you will ask what rememdy he was given but I can't remember, i will try to find out.

Our Doctor has referred us to a specialist to see if grommets are needed but I want to avoid this if possible. I will take him to see our family homeopath but can't get an appointment for a couple of weeks.

I was wondering if anyone has experienced this before and if homeopathy has worked to clear the ears.

I guess I am looking for a bit of reassurance that he won't need surgery.

Any comments would be gratefully received.

Thanks

I would suggest your son is MILK allergic

remove ALL milk products from his diet for at least 4 weeks and see what a difference it makes

We went through years of the kind of nonsense you are doing and at age 14 discovered milk allergy

Yes you are right...he is!!

When I was first introducing dairy into his diet his behaviour became very unsettled. I removed all dairy from his diet and my own as I was still breast feeding him, and everything improved imensly. Over time I slowly reintroduced dairy products and now he has a normal diet, although i often substitute soy milk for cows milk...not that he drinks much milk anyway.

It hadn't occurred to me that it could still be a problem. I will remove the dairy products again and see what happens. Do you think soy is ok for drinking and for his cereals?

Thanks for you help.

cjd - Pat is right on - Allergies can wreck havoc with children....My daughter was allergic to milk.....Then came strawberries, oranges and shellfish. Her allergies caused very bad excema and who knows what else in her system when she was young. She has since grown out of her allergies, but dairy products can still give her trouble. If your child is allergic to milk, chances are there are other food allergies. Maybe someone can suggest a good book on childhood food allergies.

Food Allergy tests can be an expensive waste of time

Remove Dairy foods

DO NOT USE SOYA .....laiden with aluminium and plenty of research on its dangers to the thyroid

AVOID at all costs using aluminium pans, foil etc .......damaging to immune system and the thyroid

give only fresh fruit vegetables meat fish and wholegrain ceraels ......like plain porridge oats as a muesli
Check check and recheck all labels including bread for Milk , skimmed milk , whey solids, milk powder .you would be amazed what they sneak it into

When folk did their own baking etc and quick fix meals were not available there was far less problems for folk

Before you go down the food allergy root, this ear stuff couldn't be more straightforward. Kids ear infections and threats of grommet is real bread and butter daily homoepathic treatment for the average practitioner. Grommets are fine for keeping the problem at bay for a while and sometimes it does so for long enough for the child to grow out of it, but they don't deal with the underlying problem and they can fall out and you've not dealt with the cause of it.

Go and see a good homoepath. Apart from giving therapeutic remedies which may help in the short term, the right course of treatment - probably constitutional remedy, followed by miasmatic remedy to deal with underlying tendency, constitutional again et etc etc will take care of it within a few weeks even there is an allergy problem. If the body is in better health, any allergy can disappear along with other problems when the body is strong enough to throw it all off.

Get a food allergy test done. It is probably your quickest way of finding out!

Constant problems with ears can also be related to vaccination reactions.

Constitutional prescribing by a qualified homeopath is your best course of action. Diet is also an efficient aid to elimination.

Thanks everyone for your input. If I can't use milk or soy, what else is available for cereals etc?

I'm not sure how to get an allergy test done here. I asked about it once before and was told that they are difficult to get and very expensive.

Taylor is ok about having the dairy removed from his diet so I'll continue with that until we can get in to see our Homeopath.

After reading the last post about people not doing as much baking and using quick food, I was going to say that as a full-time mum I do a lot of my own food preperation, but then I went to get the chicken nuggets and frozen chips out of the oven for the kids dinner!!! Makes you realise how much you take for granted these days!
