In doing a quick review of the old posts, it seems the promise was to assist you as you worked out your case, not to do the evaluation. Since you have been studying and applying homeopathy for many years, this seems the most reasonable and appropriate course of action. Here are the current suggestions: 1. reread and understand that writing of Kent, How to use the repertory, where he essentially explains very clearly and amazingly briefly how to analyze a case. You must begin to try and understand that you need to separate the most important features of your case from the rest. Also, you MUST strive to write out "who you are" in your own words; do NOT use words from the materia medica to describe yourself. Doing these two things will assist you in focusing properly. Finding the homeopathic simillimum requires this disciplined focus. 2. After you have truly comprehended what Kent is saying (feel free to ask questions along the way), then you must do the hard time-consuming work of going back through all the posts you have made in regard to your case (see your post entitled "lesser writings" and others, by doing a search using your name here), and organizing everything ACCORDING TO THE SCHEME KENT GIVES. That means, for example, that you must sift out the "mentals" and list them, then do the modalities of the mentals...also, be very hard on yourself when you list out your loves and hates (these are NOT merely likes and dislikes)...and so on and so on, all the time following the outline Kent gives in that essay How to use the repertory. Wait until everything else is done before you list any of your physicals, understood? The way you have previously posted is really quite disorganized. You simply canNOT determine your simillimum by presenting information in this fashion. You really must work hard at organizing and prioritizing the information BEFORE you or anyone can draw answers. 3. There is already some idea of what your simillimum may be. Again, after doing all the above, spend some time re-reading Lycopodium and Sepia. Try to grasp what is unique about these remedies. You have discounted Sepia, and this is a big surprise!! Sepia is certainly heard over and over again in your various posts. You must respect this and follow through on it. Lyc is heard, too, and has, by your accounts, already given you some good service. Thus, give Sepia and Lyc a lot of attention, for now (until a different path MIGHT...repeat MIGHT... arise). Next (when you find the time!), read Natrum muriaticum and Sulphur. Understand how these two differ from Lyc and Sep. (These are all the remedy readings suggested for now. Limit yourself to these four ....UNTIL you can describe/differentiate each with much ease!!) 4. You keep wondering about Coffea. What to say about this....???? It seems you are rather trying to match yourself to the remedies. This is wrong. You must try to fit the remedies to you. Perhaps coffea plays a role for you, but this cannot be said yet. If you continue to find yourself attracted to this remedy, study its profile in as many materia medicas and other reference sources as possible, write an outline of it, and then see what you think. Why not???? In the information that you have already provided, the answer does indeed exist!!!! But the info is so mixed up, and it is best and most appropriate for you to do the organizing. You are determined to find your simillimum, and this endeavor is most commendable. Look for guidance here when you need it. As soon as you have organized and prioritized your data, post it here. Try to have fun with it, even though it can be very frustrating. Alright?? |

Another suggestion is that you consider the LM potencies, possibly better suited to your situation.
Here is a copy of a previous post, with the website noted where there is much more information: quoted from www.simillimum.com: "The Preparation of the Standard Medicinal Solution for the LM Potencies" "The size of the medicinal solution can be from 3 1/2 oz. to 20 oz. of water and alcohol solution depending on the sensitivity of the individual. The bottle which contains the medicinal solution is used by the patient to prepare their personal doses. The average size of the medicinal solution is between 4 oz. and 6 oz. of fluid. This solution consists of water mixed with 30 to 50 % brandy, or a smaller amount of pure alcohol, as a preservative. The LM potency is always used in a medicinal solution with the addition of a dilution glass filled with 4 to 6 oz. of water. The medicinal solution bottle should be protected from sunlight, heat and strong odors. The remedy is always succussed just prior to ingestion in order to slightly raise the potency. After the dosage glass has been used the remaining solution in the glass is thrown away and the glass and spoon are cleaned and placed in the sun. This twofold process of succussing and diluting causes a considerable change in the dynamization of the remedy. As the succussing raises the potency, the dilution reduces the amount, thus allowing the remedy to work rapidly, gently and permanently. The preparation of the standard medicinal solution may be summarized in four points. 1. Take 1 (very rarely 2) poppy seed size #10 pills of the desired potency ( starting in the lowest degrees LM 0/1, 0/20, 0/3, etc.) and place it into a clean bottle. The minimal size of a medicinal solution 3 1/2 oz., the average is between 4 and 6 oz. of fluid. In hot or moist climates the watery solution includes at least 30 to 50% brandy, or a smaller amount of pure alcohol, as a preservative and stabilizer. It is best to have at least 2 oz. of extra space in the bottle as an air gap so that there is room for effective succussions. 2. Succuss the bottle just prior to ingestion 1 to 12 times (or more) depending on the sensitivity of the patient. This slightly raises the potency and activates the remedy. 3. Take 1 or, more rarely, 2 or 3 teaspoons of the medicinal solution and place it into 4 to 6 oz. of water in a dilution glass and stir vigorously. Most cases are begun with 1 teaspoon and the amount is increased only if necessary to get more remedial action. In children the amount should be 1/2 teaspoon. Infants may only need 1/4 of a teaspoon. 4. Take 1 or, more rarely, 2, 3 (or increasing more) teaspoons from the dilution glass as a dose until medical reaction is attained. Most cases are started with 1 teaspoon and the amount increased only if necessary. Children should be given 1/2 teaspoon. Infants 1/4 or less of a teaspoon. The dosage of the medicinal solution can be carefully adjusted to suit the sensitivity of the individual's constitution. This is why I have not given an exact size to the medicinal solution, nor the amount of the dose, and the number of succussions. The use of the medicinal solution is an art as well as a science. The experience of last decade has shown that the remedy bottle should be succussed between 1, 2, or 3 times for the hypersensitive types; 4, 5, 6, for the average sensitivity; and 8,9,10, or more, for the hypo sensitive patients. The succussion should be increased until the is a sufficient reaction from the vital force. Normally 1, or increasing more, teaspoons, of the medicinal solution is taken and stirred vigorously into at least 3 1/2 oz. of water. Sometimes it is necessary to slowly increase the number of teaspoons from the remedy bottle to get a favorable reaction. Those who are relatively more hypo sensitive, or have the primary eruptions of the four classic Hahnemannian miasms on the skin, may need increased amounts and succussions as the remedy is repeated at suitable intervals. Generally, I start with 1 teaspoon, and only increase the amount if and when necessary. The ultra hypersensitive constitutions may need 1 teaspoon from the first glass can be stirred into a second glass of water. From this second dilution glass one teaspoon is then given to the patient. This can be carried on through a series of several dilution glasses if necessary. This method of adjustment is called a "serial dilution" ( type of hydraulic dynamization reminiscent of the fluxation machines of the 19th century). The patient then takes a teaspoon of solution from the last dilution glass as a dose. This has been most useful in the hypersensitive temperaments. These constitutions are very difficult to treat with the dry dose methods of the 4th Organon." note: "Succussion" means to hit the bottle that contains the remedy against a hard surface, such as a large thick book. Also, this is a method that is different from using the actual remedy pellets DRY on the tongue. Mr. Little argues that Hahnemann, over the years, came to believe that taking the remedy via the form of the "medicinal solution" (the remedy pellet dissolved in water...) was better, quicker acting, producing fewer aggravations. Anyone wanting more information can go to that website, and click on the Online Library. Lots to read!! |

More thoughts on the cataracts, specifically:
1. You should be seen by allopathic eye doctors. Advise that you obtain at least three opinions. These days there are much wonders in that arena, BUT also some very irresponsible money-grubbing eye doctors. You want the very best clinic, if you decide to pursue any procedures. If you feel you cannot finance at least three evaluations by three different doctors, then borrow the money to do it. It is very important. 2. Homeopathy for cataracts. Upon further consideration, it seems that it might be best to consider your cataracts as "an acute layer", of a moderately pressing nature, and deal with it accordingly. Based on a number of your important modalities and your mental disposition, a suggestion of Calcarea fluorica could be made. (Note: I will mention whenever Sepia is a match to you, too, for purposes of your continued constitutional evaluations/studies.) A unique aspect you have written here in this forum about your character is: "better by warm" (warm drinks, warm clothing, warm air....) AND "better by continued motion" (dancing, active, quick of motion, able to and does do much housework and other work involving a good deal of motion, etc...). This is quite a remarkable combination, eliminating many many remedies, but is indeed covered by Calc flour. (Sepia also covers those two modalities...) Also, are the traits "concerned about finances" (Sepia, also) (this trait of yours exhibits itself mostly importantly when you speak of your daughter and explain the limits of your relationship with her...also, you commented on your disapproval of a friend's financial behavior...also, about your frugality with clothing...) (Sepia also covers the entire nature of and your outlook on your relationship with close family), "concerned for health" (your entire written health history, posted in another thread, speaks to this, and supports this...Sepia also), and "need of guidance with work" (the manner in which you presented your situation, and have saught assistance here, and rather need drection in sorting through your evaluation all support this trait...Here I will note that Sepia generally resents interference, and rarely asks for input, but if she does, her ego makes her resentful towards those who have given the assistance or suggestions. You match this as well in your seeming determination to receive assistance only according to what you feel is right here, rather than, for example, the opposite or contrast which would be a Pulsatilla-like fashion, where Puls very easily follows instructions given by others. This of course may reflect your Calc flour [all Calcareas, really] need for greater instruction, but there is in your posts a very Sepia ego displayed, too...)..., and, also, "worse upon first motion, but better by continued motion" (note here than this is DIFFERENT from Rhus tox, which you said you'd either tried or considered...Rhus tox is indeed worse from first starting to move, then better on a bit of continued motion, but then is worse again, until he or she must rest, and the whole thing starts all over again...Sepia is better from vigorous exercise), and "worse from cold or a draft (Sepia, also)".... Calc flour is also known PARTICULARLY for its use with cataracts in situations where THERE IS A MATCH WITH THE PATIENT'S OVERALL PICTURE, and that seems to be the situation here. Thus, do take a look at Calc flour in your materia medicas, as well as in the materia medicas available as links from this website. Keep studying Sepia. You may now ask about the dose and potency. Well, given your age, and the fact you seem to be of a sensitive nature, you must proceed with caution. The best would probably be the LM potencies, starting with LM1. Mix the medicinal solution (see instructions in the above post) using only water. Best to use bottled water. To make things easier, mix the medicinal solution in a disposable pint bottle you can purchase of the brand of water you prefer. Then use disposable cups for each dose. It would be best if you could take these suggestions to your local homeopath and ask him or her to monitor you, as well as suggest the dosing. Some ppl would suggest taking the dose from the medicinal solution daily for two or three weeks. You may have to remix a fresh med soln every few days. You must decided what you will do. I will continue to suggest that anyone who participates on this forum try to at least take careful thoughtful recommendations from here to a local homeopath for VALIDATION and dose/potency prescription and MONITORING. It would be civil of you if you could post here and say if you've read this thread. Let everyone know how you are doing. |

Thank you Kevin, printing it all out to have for reference, as I get lost sometimes trying to find the different posts and a few different ones are ongoing now. I do not have a doc.in my town, 3 hr. car ride, but try to check end result on the phone with him, after I review all you wrote.Guess I need an RX for the LM1(so I assume its higher than 1M as I know it, not knowing about LM1 at all.
I have been to two different eye doctors and all they say is , when its ripe we'll do eye surgery and want to check me in 6 mo.I have been bothered with it more recently with sunlight, and headlights, eyes either dry, or very wet, and large red areas down to my checks.thought of FerPhos or Nat.Mur to take the heat out, while I'm checking for the real me. Again thanks, will keep the BB posted. ------------------ |

Hi. Yes, between this thread and the other thread, you have now received several replies. Someone in the other thread suggested that perhaps you shouldn't worry too much about finding your exact simillimum, that you can always take it when you find it. As far as your cataracts go, this seems accurrate; allow yourself to treat yourself with "acute care" when you need it (of course, you always want a very good match to your mentals and modalities!!!). This is important. Meanwhile, you can and should continue to study for your "most similiar match", your simillimum. If you do enough reading of homeopathy, you will find that even the great homeopaths believed you could achieve a cure by prescribing with the closest matches EVEN IF THEY ARE NOT THE SIMILLIMUM. It can be confusing, but it is possible. You have, for example, found a lot of assistance from Lyc, even though it seems to be NOT your simillimum.... Continue thinking and studying, but do consider treating your cataract situation as soon as you feel comfortable about making your own choice. It is very good to learn that you do have a "local" homeopath whom you can telephone and ask to validate any remedy choices you make.
About the LM potencies. LM is totally different from the c potencies and canNOT be thought of as "higher than" a 1 M. You may read more details on the website mentioned in the post above.... But, basically, LM is considered a very gentle way of taking a homeopathic remedy. An LM 1 should be as easily available as a 30c, but you may have to special order and it may cost a tiny bit more. Given your age and sensitivity, an LM potency dissolved into the "medicinal solution" of water can be very gentle. |

Dear Kevin, I am trying to understand dosages. If it is too complicated to answer my question, don't worry, I can wait. What I would like to know is this:
does 6x mean that the dose is low in the dilution and thus low in the potency? is an LM1 dose similar to a 6x dose, ie, low in the dilution and low in potency, if so is the LM1 more potent than a 6x? Why do we have LM1 if there are 6x? Is Lm1 more "refined" Thank you, Best wishes, Mselle |

thank you Kevin, I'm still reading and writing out who I really am. Yes, in the meantime I had to do an acute. got a bladder infection(urine tested) of course Doc. ordered antibiotics. which, I chose not to buy, but instead check l2 salts and found Silica fit my problem,(draws infections out) very little, slow urination. taking 30x. at nite and one in morning.lots of water and cranberries, and can feel the difference already. no back pain and better flow. I too, wonder how very different LMl is to a 6x or c. the prep on LM1 seems like a very big job, if the differnce is not too much. So far, if I remember correctly, only reaction was on 1M of Ignatia. thanks again everyone for this lovely cooperative BB

Hi Kevin: just to let you know I'm working on the eyes as suggested and checked out homeopathiceye.com/cathomeo.htm< /font>. there is a long list of remedies, and after checking same I think I might be more of Phos, or Cal. Car rather than the Cal Flo or maybe go his system of trying a few together at 6x. would appreciate your feelings on same.
