Default Sudden Loss of Vision

Two days ago, a female patient aged 25 recently got married consulted me for sudden loss of vision. There were no apparant symptoms except that she lost vision suddenly. Blood pressure was also normal. She had slight pain at back head after loss. I prescribed Gelsemium 1m three doses and refered her to an eye splt for emergency help and diagnosing. When she got at home, she rang me, now she can see right and left but infront there are star like light but cannot see any thing infront...

What I do next?

You have choosed the right remedy. Wait for another 3days I hope the patient will recover. Better choice in this case is one or two doses of Gels-1M.

i am grateful of the feedback given.

Latest development is that, her mother told me that she is admitted in CMH (Combined Military Hospital) and have developed right sided paralysis. As the patient is away from me, we can only give them advice. The paralysis symptoms are appeared now. There were no signs at all earlier. It means loss of vision is actually related with paralysis but symptoms were not prominent. Just for the sake of study what do you say how could we handle such patient having loss of vision due to paralysis attack for future study.

you should have selected a medicine which has speed fast and miasm syphilitic, not a slow acting one. see the onset , it was sudden.

Default loss of vision and paralysis

how could we handle such patient having loss of vision due to paralysis attack for future study ?
--------------------------------------------------------------------

treat them according to the symptoms....

just to give some ideas about the rubrics:

Mind, ailments from, excitment emotional, mental symptoms from*
Generalities, sudden manifestations
Extremeties, paralysis, hemiplegia, right
Eyes, vision, loss of vision, blindness, sudden
Eyes, vision, light (?)
Eyes, vision, stars (?)

Bell and Phos come up strongly as acutes !!! Are there any peculiar mentals or other physical generals or § 153 symptoms ?
And of course subsequent chronic miasmatic treatment is necessary to prevent relapse and the further development of disease.

* the marriage ? This may be speculative so further investigations are necessary.

Default Loss of vision

Sudden loss of vision due to paralysis :The eye should be tested to find out the cause of loss of vision and if one finds paralysis of optic nerve (that indicates the possibility of further paralysis of limbs in somer cases) and after taking other symptoms the treatment be started to get good results.

Eye, paralysis of optic nerve, amaurosis, right:Bovista, China ,Arg.Nit

Default stroke

Eye, paralysis of optic nerve, amaurosis, right:Bovista, China ,Arg.Nit

------------------------------------------------------------------------

I onced learned to be careful with too big rubrics (no individualization possible) but also with too small rubrics. When the other symptoms confirm the choice of the remedy then they are a valuable hint, but in this case we may also look at the following rubrics:

Eyes, Paralysis of, optic nerve, amaurosis*
Generalities, side, right/left

Bell is a strong right-sided remedy whereas Phos is more left-sided.

I do not deny the value of diagnosis, but we should always consider that we do not treat the "disease" but the patient with the disease. Homeopathic prescription is based upon the totality of characteristic symptoms, only this will allow to individualize all the remedies given in the clinical rubric "stroke" (Bell 3, Phos 2 besides a lot of others).

As per the above statement I have stated that the cause of loss of vision if ascertained by testing eyes in that case we can use the remedies to prevent further loss.I dont say that other factor such as totality of symptoms should not be considered.

Default totality of symptoms

OK ! It was more a general annotation as these rubrics are so seductive.
