I get a dark patch on my upper lip every month for about 7 days. It's really noticeable as I'm fair skinned.

I'm not on the pill, or preganant or take any pharmaceuticals.

I guess it's a hormone thing, but how can I stop it appearing ?

I've heard a side-effectr of St. John's Wort is evening out skin pigment/age blotches.

What do you think ?

Any homeopathic remedies ?

Please help, It's been upsetting and annoying me for years, and I just want it gone. Make up, sunscreen and skin-fading stuff just makes the whole thing more noticeable/doesn't work !

Thank you in anticipation.

Just wanted to let you know you are not alone. I developed the same thing when I became pregnant last year. My daughter is 7mo and it still has not gone yet. I'm hoping it will fade when I'm done nursing her. Post your full case here someone will help.

Hi Barb !

Excellent, thank you for replying !

I've had 'it' for years.

My daughter, ( no pill, no pharmaceuticals, not and never been pregnant ) who is 25 has now had 'it' for two years.

I know quite a lot of women who have 'it'!

It is a real pain, and as it appears quite widespread .....

- on the funny side, I look really weird during 'it', with very short wispy platinum facial hair on my upper lip, and a black 'shadow' on the skin ! -

.......I've never seen this issue raised anywhere on-page !

Question though Barb, as a complete newbie in this group ( only found the site today ), you asked me to post all the history. Would you kindly post exactly what is required and I will more than gladly do that.

Thank you very much for taking the time to reply.

I look forward to your reply.

Dear Click,
If you have a look at some of the other posts, you'll soon get an idea of what is needed. In Homeopathy we look at the whole person - that is - mentally, emotionally and physically. So, your tendencies in those areas - history (medically) - your likes and dislikes - what helps ease your symptoms - what aggravates any symptoms...

but do have a look at the other posts to get the gist.
Good luck!
Lisa

Just a few questions - In what way is the discoloration related to your cycle? Before, during, after? Does it appear suddenly - overnight? Or gradually? How does it fade? Does it itch, burn? How big of an area? Right side or left side? Is it anywhere other than your upper lip? Does sun exposure affect it? What is your diet like? Be patient one of the experts will help. Good luck to you!

Thank you very much Lisa for your direction !

I looked, and hope and assume that I've got it going in the right direction.

If anyone out there who can help, needs some more info. please ask !

So, here goes:

Me - physically

In my 40's, 170cm. average weight.
Scandinavian origin. Fair haired, grey eyed.
Not grey hair at all. Skin yellowy, tans easily, no burning.

Cycle started late - when I was 16.
First 2-3 years my periods were very very painfull - vomitting etc. with the pain. I think that that was due to stressful home life. When I left home, they settled down to normal. Still normal.

My health is generally good. The last time I had any problems was a bad cold for about a week in Dec. 97.

I wear reading glasses ( 20 years )

I gave up smoking on March 18th 99.

I put on 10 lbs in weight. Doing something about it half heartedly.

Gave up my daily G&T as a new years res. this year. Have a glass of wine occaionally. Thought it would be a good idea - for health reasons ! Still have a bottle of red on birthdays and celebrations though.

I am highly educated in my field. I work what seems like all the time. When I'm stressed I get backache, shoulder-ache,the normal. A hot water bottle and a massage does the trick !
Never used the contraceptive pill, hate the idea of all those 'unknown other's' hormones in my body.

Have on daughter - she's 25.

Been a single parent for 23 years.

In 1983 I got shingles. It cleared up fine.
( I took Rhus. Tox. )

I take the RDA of:

evening primrose oil
multivitamin
vitamin C - sometimes more.....
B6 and B12
cod liver oil
Ca and Mg

Emotional and mental state:

Apart from work, my life is fine. Work I love, but it can get hectic and I work long hours most days, and travel a lot. I love it.

My relationship with my daughter is and always has been as near perfect as possible. She has had an excellent education and is doing what mum does - working all the time, travels a lot and absolutely loves it.

I am a very calm person that loses her temper - sometime, but the occasion hasn't arisen yet.I'm well balanced, and don't see the point in reacting in an out of control way - as there are always situations and people who are far worse off. In my life I have taught myself to act consequentially. I am a great believer in and practioner of compartmentalisation.

I get my periods of self doubt - probably just like everybody else. I talk to my daughter, and through her jokes, and putting things into perspective, I forget about it.

I have been known to have a tendency to be a bit of a hedonist.

What aggravates/ eases my symptons:

Hmmmmmmmmm..........

I've had that skin discolouration for what seems forever. But, it was about ten years ago that my sister pointed it out ! At the time I was studying and holding down two jobs, and didn't have time to look in the mirror !

I get 'it' for up to 7 days every month.
NOTHING I do or don't do makes any difference. But then again I don't know what to do that would make that difference !

And now, my daughter has had the same symptoms for about two years ! We are physically, mentally and emotionally very similar. That's what happens when a single parent and an only child live together for such a long time I guess !

This feels like a psychiatrists chair !

I can't think of anything else. I don't even know if the above is relevant !

Please, if anyone can help I look forward to hearing from you.

As I said at the top, if you need any more info, just ask !

Thanks in anticipation.

Hi there GM - thank you very much for your time to write.

Here are my answers:
headaches - no, rarely - maybe last time was after the Millennium celebrations - self induced !
food dislikes - no, eat most things - haven't got a sweet tooth, so don't really eat sugary anything. Don't like bland, that generally translates into processed food - so don't eat it. If I'm out and there is nothing else, will eat anything, with no major side-effects. Can feel nauseous, but I assume it's because I'm not used to them. But no allergic reactions.
cravings - although I eat a med. style diet, and sometimes really spicy food, I sometimes crave something salty.
foods that aggravate - like most people, dairy - partic. milk, I used to drink skimmed, and chocolate - as theses foods were not associated with cravings, was easy. Have cut them out of my diet now for a few years. Catarrh seems to disappear. I do eat cheese though, sparingly.
Fears - nothing pathological, just irrational - but don't like heights;
- will go part of the way up the Eiffel, but will NOT bungee or parachute jump, will look out of the window in a high-rise, but won't go to the edge if the wall is all glass,

sometimes flying - not always - cross-Atlantic no probs., but not in a two seated bone-shaker, not even take-off.
dentists
spots on nails, freckles, moles - none
If you need to know anything more - please ask !

Whatever your remedies may be, please tell me the dosage, intervals etc. And, if you have the time, what is the cause, and can I prevent it, and will the remedy prevent it, or will it cure it ?

Apologies for all the questions, I am completely new at this and extremely inquisitive !

Thumbs up

Your remedy is calc carb, use one dose( 3pills) once only, of c200, avoid camphor, Alcahol, coffe, coca cola, all colas, lower, or stop sugar intake. A month.
Causations may be hormonal,( birthcontroll pills, medication) too high sugar intake, inherited weakness, etc, i cant find to put the finger on in this picture.
