Does anyone have ideas on help for phantom pain? A friend's brother is having great difficulty after amputation of his leg. What details do you need? All I know now is that he was given an epidural before the surgery, to supposedly lessen the possibility of phantom pain. Thanks for any help.

I think the remedy for this might be Hypericum, but wait for others' thoughts as I don't remember for sure which is the specific for phantom limb pain.

I've found the rubric now. There are several possibilities. Is it a neuralgic pain? How does it feel? At what time of the 24 hours is the pain at its worst? What makes the pain better or worse? Any infection trouble? Bleeding/bruising? Any marked mental/emotional response? Other marked symptoms ?

Thanks so much for your quick responses!
Frank Hicks: what is the significance of the number 1 or 2 preceeding remedies? (Obviously I am a novice to homeopathy!)
I'll contact my friend, she can get more information. I know he lives in the UK-not certain where. What luck if he were near you, Anna! Hopefully he is on-line and could pursue this thread himself-otherwise, I am willing to be the go-between. Thanks, again.

GM; I confess I don't understand your reference to arnica-do you mean there would have to be other symptoms for arica to be the remedy? Frank: I understand your mention of anesthetic to indicate knowing what kind used would be helpful?
I'll pass previous posts on to my friend, she will call her brother tomorrow. Thanks.

All remedies is to be prescribed after present symptomes, not after one symptome only, only in difficult cases ther may be one sympt only to prescribeafter, to rely on.

Wink

The 1 and 2 following remedies listed in the rubric are weightings. 3 is strongest and normally shown in bold type. 2 is usually written in italics whilst 1 is in plain type. But all is in plain text here hence numbers.
GM points out that this is only part of the picture, will post when more info.

For all those who responded on this post-an update: my friend's brother now has a copy of posts and is updating his computer equipment so he can participate himself. Thanks again for your help.
