I am a homeopathy novice. My understanding is basic. When I was young my father was diagnosed with TB and then "cured" I have been required to have a PPD skin test for a caregiver position. Is there a danger that the "purified protein derivative" which supposedly does not contain live organism could cause an activation of a tubercular miasm? Am I being paranoid or is my hunch correct that I should avoid this test?

If one had a bad reaction to the actual BCG innoculation

Anna - I have a couple of patients who have had vey bad reaction at the BCG site. One has noticed that he has had more colds since then. Have you ever given BCG in potency to someone like this? If so how did you give it (dosage) and what was the reaction? This particular lad has just had curative agg from Carc. for his presenting complaint.

This was pre my homeopathy - but everytime my daughter had the skin test she came up in eczema in that elbow so she never did have the vaccination!

Hi Anna,
There was a Hahnermannian proving of BCG conducted by Julian in 1960-61 on 6 provers using the 5c, 7c, 9c. It was written up by Julian in 1977 - See his MM. In fact just re reading it makes me write a note to myself about asking a patient with chronic rhinitis and nasal polyps if she has had the vaccination!!!
