I am very healthy and strive to maintain a healthy diet, but for years I've been getting food cravings. I will eat everything in sight and then more. After a couple of days I go back to eating healthy again. It's a vicious circle.
Any ideas for controlling food cravings?

More details needed.
Describe your personality esp re confidence, self esteem etc.
What kinds of food do you crave- be specific.

I am fairly reserved, tend to be introverted by choice, but others don't see me that way. I shut down when I"m in a group of extraverts. I was raised in an environment where both of my parents were alcoholics. I feel very alone most of the time and have difficulty allowing people to get close to me. I am working on gaining greater self confidence, but can go 3 or 4 days at a time feeling very unconfident. I binge eat. Sometimes on salty, chrunchy things (chips, peanuts, crackers)and other times really really sweet stuff.

Cravings for really sweet foods - chocolate, pecan pie, chocolate bars, cake frosting

And then there are cravings for crunchy, salty foods - french fries, potatoe chips, onion rings,
