Top considerations are Allen's or Hering's. Only one, not both. Which would you all recommend and why, or if a different one why? Also I am trying to decide which of Rajan Sankaran's many books to get and noticed that one seems to be listed with the Materia Medica books, can't recall its title, but I thought maybe I would choose that and thus have a RJ book that is also some sort of MM??? Or is there a particular RS book I should look for. Thanks. |

Rajan S 'Soul of Remedies' I find v good for differentiation
Gibson 'Studies of Hom Rems'.... v good Clarke 'Dictionary of Practical MM' Kent Murphy Phatak Vermeulen Scholten Agrawal (MM of the human mind) I find I dip into them all at times but we all have different preferences! S

".…my pocket Boericke one. Boericke one really does not have enough information…."William Boericke, MD(1849 - 1929) William Boericke was born on October 25, 1849 in Austria. He studied for one year at the Vienna Medical School and then immigrated to the Unites States where his family settled in Ohio. In 1870 he moved to San Francisco to take over the Boericke and Tafel pharmacy. He graduated from the Philadelphia Medical College in 1876 and from Hahnemann Medical College in Philadelphia in 1880. Moving to San Francisco he practiced as a homeopath for over fifty years. He was editor of the California Homoeopath and co-founder of the Pacific Homoeopathic Medical College and Hahnemann Hospital in 1881. This facility was eventually incorporated into the University of California, where Boericke became the first professor of Homoeopathic Materia Medica and Therapeutics, a post he held for thirty years. He was also on the faculty of the Hahnemann Medical College in San Francisco. In 1901 he authored Boericke's Materia Medica. His brother Oscar added a repertory to the book in 1906. THIS 'POCKET MANUAL' FINDS ITS WAY INTO ALMOST EVERY HOMEOPATH'S LIBRARY. IT IS A CONCISE GUIDE. TO HUNDREDS OF REMEDIES, SOME OF WHICH APPEAR NOWHERE ELSE.Many a homeopathic professional has depended on this work for daily practice. From 1880-1920 Dr. Boericke was the physician of choice in San Francisco. Consequently, his family belonged to the 'high society' there. In fact, patients came from all over the world to be treated by him homeopathically. He was a hard worker and his family was devoted to him.

Dear members
Homeopathy -Hahnemann !! Nobody suggested it, but most naturally why not the master? So -- Hahnemann MMP and CD -- and the man who worked out the CD with him? Right it was G.H.G. Jahr -- probably the most respected author of materia medica -- evn to the point, that his MMP is recommended in the Organon. YeaHH - maybe some day we all become homeopaths and use the true MMP's

Yes agreed point taken ...I also have these but didn't remember to mention! Thank you for the reminder. Assume your 'CD' ref is to Hahnemanns Chronic Diseases? CD a bit heavy going for quick reference though?
Assume these fundamental texts, along with the Organon, would be studied as part of any hom course..and should be known to all practioners anyway? If Hahnemann had been able to live on I feel he would have acknowledged the many excellent mm texts produced since his time. His ideas would have evolved as they did during his lifetime....and we may have had a few later editions of the Organon!? I don't refer to Chronic Diseases as much as I should...so that one isn't falling apart So there you go Teagen..you'll be spending lots of money now ??????? |

Dear Members
Fully agree, the CD are cumbersome and absolutely boring. They are plaiqued by endless repetitions. Of course, everyone is held to have it studied. The only question is how – and this is where most schools and teachers left it. So here goes the question: How to study material medica Pura ?? And further more, if it were only to find a remedy which has the most outstanding symptoms of the disease in the greatest similitude, How can we distinguish between the polychrests ?? all of them have myriads of symptoms.
