Hi Pat - I've checked back in the archives and you seem to be the person to talk to about Thyroid - is this so? I have an on going problem and if you are the one to talk to, I'd like to. I've discussed other problems on this BB and would like to e-mail you personally, if possible. If you are the one to contact, would you let me know....Also, would you prefer the BB (I would like to keep this personal - but it's up to you how to handle this) Thanks, Yvonne

Pat probably is the one to contact but I know she is on holiday in Australia for a few weeks. If you E mail her I'm sure she will contact you on her return.

Yvonne,
I think you may be the same person I have been in contact with re: caffeine. I also have a thyroid problem and famle problems (see caffeine and fibroids) I can't help but think they are related. I am on thyroid meds, but think that I am not getting enough. Anything you learn would be appreciated.

To cscottie: I haven't e-mailed Pat Davis yet, as I know what it's like to just want to relax after a long trip (Ijust got back from Hong Kong!) I will give her another week or so and will certainly share any info she gives me with you and anyone else that's interested in the same problem... Please do feel funny about jumping into the conversation - doesn't bother me at all.

Yvonne, have you had this long? is it hypo or hyper-thyroid? I have some experience with it, but if you prefer Pat, no worries.

Ben: Thank you for your reply....The reason I would like to consult with Pat Davis is because (as far as I know) my thyroid tests come out "normal" yet I have many symptoms that seem to relate to thyroid problems. One BIG one is appearance....No matter what Doctor I see for myself, my child or my husband I am asked if I have ever seen a Dr to have my thyroid checked. The bulging eyes have gotten much worse over the past few years and have made me look more into a throid problem for some of my "woes" Pat seems (if I remember right) to be an expert on thyroid problems - maybe she can guide me on further testing, etc. Thank you for your interest.

I also have been having symptoms of Hashimoto's Disease. I was diagnosed with this several years ago and placed on medicine. I was on it for 5 years; after moving, I was off of it for 3 years and started developing symptoms again, yet all the blood tests say that everything is fine. Last year my cycle went haywire with heavy heavy bleeding which the doctor says is hormones (which the blood tests say is normal)and fibroids (which just "appeared"). We live in an area with no natural or homopathic doctors around. My doctor wants me to have a hysterectomy, but I don't feel at ease to do so (I am 42). Does any one have any ideas on this?

Lynette and Yvonne-
I am very interested in both of your symptoms and your use or non use of caffeine, especially you Lynette since I also have fibroids and heavy bleeding (See also fibroids and caffeine) I have been on thyroid meds for about 4 years, but also don't think that I am well or normal yet. I have very dry eyes, skin problems, am un normally tired at times and have struggled a little with my weight. When I was younger I was very energetic and feel quite old for my age (37). My symptoms were all much worse when I was not on the meds, and I was losing hair as well. My fibroid/bleeding situation has not gotten better at all and drs say the thyroid and fibroid situations are not at all related. I wonder. Any thing either of you learn will be appreciated.

I also have read about the effects of caffeine on fibroids. I drink iced tea, about 3 or less glasses a day. I did go off of it for a while and didn't really see any noticible difference. Maybe it is better for more serious caffeine drinkers? I did start on natural progesterine due to some books I have been reading. I think that might be helping, but my periods are still 2 weeks,,,not all heavy bleeding, but bleeding none the less. I will spot for a couple of days, then everything clears up for 3 weeks.
I would like to get the bleeding down to less then 2 weeks. I am working on changing my diet and exercising more, but I would still like a Homopath's opinion on this. I still believe that surgery isn't the only solution. I don't know if thyroid and fibroids are connected, but I do know that a thyroid out of wack can mess up ones cycle. So the combination of the two could be real messy. I do need to do some more research on the natural approach to both of these things. If you find out anything, let me know and I will do the same.
