I've been meaning to ask about my son and this discussion is an appropriate place to start.

He's 6 yrs and his constitutional remedy is Phos and recently i feel i've been giving it to him too often. My ex homeopath told me to give it first when he's sick and he often gets headaches or stomach aches (esp on school days, the weather is very hot now )
so i give him phos 6 or 30 , then he usually sleeps and seems ok but this can be on a weekly basis and sometimes i repeat the dose.

A year ago he was getting nosebleeds every few weeks often for no reason (but it started off with a bang to his head) but he's stopped since.

I often don't know from his symptoms what other remedy to give him (except for Ant Tart if he's wheezy and it works well for him) so i give him phos. What should i do from now on?

Agreed with what jacob has posted.
If you are 100% sure that is his const. remedy that the most logical next step is to go upin potency.To keep redosing the same potency does nothing. Are you at least applying the succussions to the dose?
There might be 'acute' symptoms that need addressing via 'other' remedies. Remedies that have a relationship to phos. or compliment,or follow well. aprox 16 remedies listed that fit this (Boericke materia medica)

Thanks for the replies - I was wondering where my post had got to!

I understand what you're saying but i have only phos 30 and 6 and its difficult for me to get other potencies. I got the 6 cos i read somewhere that lower potencies deal with physical symptoms and i thought it would be safer - now i've read about low potencies with Phos being quite dangerous I do worry about having given it.

When I originally gave Phos to my son my homeopath told me to give the 30 one dose per day over 3 days - his eczema worsened then went in 6mnths.

Gina, you asked if i apply succussions - i presume this means putting the pill in water. I've always given the 30s as 1pill neat on the tongue unless my homepath told me otherwise (she usually only diluted with the LMs or told me to do it once with sepia 30 for myself when i didnt have an LM available). I am confused about this - how should i be prescribing the 30s?

I do want to take my son to a homeopath cos he has problems also with daytime incontinence (few years now) but i dont have much choice living in Saudi.

Sucussion means to shake by hitting the bottle against an object.
Disolve the #10 pill only one,in a small bottle of water or glass of water,then succuss 10X,take one small sip or teaspoon that is it then wait.
If his eczema got worse by taking the remedy,that is a good sign,this means progress the skin is elliminating it.
If Phos. is his const. then eventually the potency may be raised to cover ALL his symptoms. But this must be done with the guidance of your homeopath not on your own.

His incontinence started after the initial phos. Difficult to be sure but maybe 1-2years later. We moved house and it wasn't traumatic when he was 4 years old (he's 7 in Dec) and that's when he suddenly started.Often he'd be soaked but wouldn't notice or didn't care. He'd say he didn't feel it.It was difficult dealing with it cos i'd get very angry at his complacency and it didn't work getting him to go regularly and when told to go he'd often resist strongly saying he didn't need to and we'd find out he'd already wet himself. Now we've come to terms with it - makes travelling difficult though as we recently found out! But ideally it should be dealt with.

Potty training was fairly straightforward and night times are generally ok - he'll wake up to go. It runs in a couple of his cousins on his father's side.

Do u think there's a connection with phos? When he was about a year old he did have an Lm but cant remember waht to deal with his asthamatic bronchitis which just flared up straight away - i remember my homeopath telling me to dilute it further it was just too strong. Put a lot of my friends off homeopathy cos i was raving about hpathy before he had his consultation and then he had to go to hospital the next day!

Thanks for the reply. I would really like to try Phos for his incontinence but a problem is getting the remedy. A friend of mine has the following potencies: 30c, 1000c, Lm6, Lm9,Lm12 and Lm18. Can anything be done with these? If not I can try to contact someone else for a 50 or 100 but otherwise it involves ordering from abroad which could take several weeks.

Re the Lm he was given - i found the bottle , the homeopath wrote on it Calc Lm1. From my notes - he got bronchitis within a week, med stopped then started 2wks later for his teething. 2 days later got colic on and off for 3or 4 hrs (15mins after med taken). Told to dilute and give on alternate days.Was getting colic regularly , stopped med and within a week he was diagnosed with bronchitis and dysentery. Later mild eczema started .

It doesn't look good but i did find that it helped with his mood and he was less clingy. Also later the bronchitis which was quite regular at this point went but will start if he's exposed to dust. As far as I can remember i haven't given that Lm again.

Btw as a baby he had intense colic although entirely breastfed (thats what the doctors put it down to but i feel it was something else) from day 3 to 6months (screaming for hrs and hrs on end and had to be carried constantly - i got 3hrs sleep each night, i think it started with a stressful situation for me ) and got attacks of asthmatic bronchitis too. Being new to hpathy and with no guidance except for a few books and a 60 remedy kit and the advice from my later-to -be hpath that it's completely safe i remember trying lots of different remedies which to this day i worry about their effect.

At the time his incontinence started i wasn't frequently dosing wiht Phos, that started later. So he'd only had the 3doses of phos 30.

Thanks for such a good breakdown of everything I mentioned - it really adds to my understanding of what went on in the past and what is needed now. I wish my previous homeopath had been so informative - she did explain when asked but it's also about knowing the right questions to ask.

I know of Helios and there's also someone coming over from Germany in a few weeks so I'll see what i can do. I'll be in touch.
