Unhappy Utrine Charlie Horses??

A Friends plight,

Occasionally when she and her husband have sex, she will end up with
these really horrible painful, charlie-horse-like uterine cramps.
They will end up lasting for hours and the rest of the day, her
abdomen is swollen and tender. She told me, "I feel like I have a
fairly high tolerence to pain, but this is rolling around, moaning,
wanting to puke kind of thing."

Her doctor told her it could be "potent sperm", but she knows this
can't be the case because there isn't always sperm present when this
happens.

Anyone have any experience with this, or know what it might be, or
what remedies there might be for it?
