Default Alcohol Allergy

My Girlfriend has an allergic reaction to alcohol. As soon as she has a couple of sips of wine or other alcoholic beverage she gets a runny nose, can't stop sneezing and puffy eyes.

As a child I used to get hayfever but I was treated with homeopathic medicine in the form of mixed pollen tablets and this was successful and my allergy is now cured.

I wonder if anyone can tell me if there may be a similar remedy for my girlfriend's problem. All she wants is to be able to go out for a social drink and not get embarrased if she tries a glass of wine, I promise that she has no intentions of becoming an alcoholic!

Any replies and suggestions by would be greatly appreciated.

I"d suggest the best thing is not to drink alcohol at all. There's always something non alcoholic to drink.

Besides that, constitutional treatment can certainly help a general allergy condition, as it helped you in the past - but if her body does not want alcohol, why force it?

Hi Ben
Often allergic reactions are caused by the preservatives in wine, check for the additive codes. Sulphur is often added to wine to help preserve it and many are allergic to this, also in the process of making wine egg whites are often used to clear the impurities and these are another allergen.
If you want to have a wine now and again, then try to find a source of biodynamic or organic wine - these may use preservatives etc but in greater moderation than mainstream commercial wines. Also the cheaper the wine, often there is more preservative.

Allergy is a much ill-used word. If your friend had REAL allergy due to alcohol, mere smell of alcohol (not few sips) would bring her down.

In Homoeopathic practice we are faced with situations described as desire for something which aggravates. Antim Crud., Arg-Nit. meet such situations.

Chel., Gels., Nat-M., Glon., Apis. may be considered.

Allium Cepa, Rhus Tox., Nat-Ars. may also be considered.

You have to define if the allergy or reaction, is to the alcohol or the additive before recommending a remedy.
Sorry if I sound terse in reply, but so many people forget to "remove the exciting cause" before starting to recommend remedies.
If your friend is able to drink wine that has few preservatives, then it is not the alcohol that causes the reaction but probably the sulphides used as a preservative or the method of making the wine.
This, to me, seems a more logical way of addressing the problem than starting to take remedies that may not be indicated.

Default Investigation Analysis and Pathology

When Hahnemann instructed to remove the exciting cause he did so for external causes or cases requiring surgical intervention.

Nothing can be more terse than the language of law.

A doctor, a homoeopath may regard himself very wise, oversmart and modern but he has no business to impress his own knowledge upon patients.

When Benlester1977 says his girlfriend is troubled by ALCOHOL WINE OR OTHER ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE, she IS troubled by THEM, no use modifying the FACT.

There is a growing trend among smart homoeopaths to depend more on analysis and pathology, and not on what the patient says. They will not CURE but advise investigation

The remedies suggsted were not suggested because they were INDICATED but because they are DETERMINED by the LAW OF SIMILARS.
