Default taking history?

Why is it important to take a patient's history of illnesses and family illnesses in homeopathy?

passkey has a little shameless behaviour in the past
Default Because most patients

suffer from symptoms that have been ""supposedly cured"" with orthodox medication. This simply drives the problem deeper into the tissues of the body. We need to know what has been concealed in this way.

Nearly all illness has a relationship to the genetic hereditary structure . It shows what a person may be predisposed to suffer , in the way of disease.

Certain diseases have been know to etch themselves deeply into family lines ie tuberculosis. Having insight into these things adds to the homeopaths knowledge of the individual and in turn enables him/her to make the best prescription possible. And will often be of benefit if and when the remedy needs to be changed due to miasmatic blocks. It has much to do with Hahnemanns theory of Chronic Disease of which I see passkey has written a very nice essay on this board about. Granted this(history) info may be a bit of a dead end at times, however at other times I suppose it may be the missing link that helps complete the case.

The present picture (disease,etc...) give us the knowledge of the dominant miasm. The Past history & family history helps us understand the fundamental miasm. The physician has to know all the aspects of the patient to treat him.
