Phos-ac is a major grief remedy, where the patient becomes overwhelmed by his loss and is unable to respond. He becomes weak, apathetic, slow to answer, fatigued and drained. The patient is flat, indifferent or even lifeless. Characteristically, he appears more collapsed than grieving. The Phos-ac state can be reached through other stresses beside grief, such as debilitating illness like mononucleosis or chronic diarrhoea. Drug abuse and alcoholism may lead to a similar picture.
Depressed, apathetic patients - almost dead inside
Slow to answer. Forgetful. Mental weakness after grief
Indifferent to all external events - wants to lie and watch TV
Ailments from grief and disappointed love
(Roger Morrison)
Quiet, unwilling to speak or hasty speech. Indifferent to everything. Apathetic from unequal struggle with adverse circumstances, mental and physical. Obtuse or torpid, with tendency to diarrhoea or sweatiness. Slow grasp. Cannot colect his ideas, hunts for words. Poor memory. Settled despair. Aversion to talking. Answers reluctantly or slowly, briefly, incorrectly. Hysteria at change of life. Home-sickness with inclination to weep. Mild delerium, easily aroused. Braifag. Hopelessness. Dread of future, broods over one's condition.
Phos-ac influences sensory nerves, the sexual system and bones. The weakness and debility that is common to all the acids is very marked in Phos-ac. There is mental debility with slowness of mind.
